In 2010 Newmont made the decision to purchase a 42 foot (ft) Semi-Autogenous Grinding (SAG) mill from Metso and a 28 Mega-Watt (MW) Gearless Mill Drive (GMD) from ABB for the Conga Project in Peru. The test and study work showed that a single line 42 ft SAG mill circuit gave the most favorable project economics in comparison to an equivalently powered single line 40 ft SAG mill circuit. This paper does not address the process design or the project economics, but instead focuses on the key aspects of the SAG mill design, GMD design and the associated component manufacturing. This paper also addresses, where applicable, the potential reliability differences between the initially proposed 40 ft SAG mill and the finally accepted 42 ft SAG mill.

"The concept of large single line grinding circuits provides a valid answer in project feasibility studies by reducing capital investment requirements compared to parallel lines for the same plant throughput rates. The benefits of this concept are reflected as well on the operational aspects, in terms of higher and greater process stability, and reduced operational costs mainly due to the associated lower maintenance expenditures. However, concerns exist in the minerals industry on whether large single line grinding could reduce the overall concentrator plant availability. The mechanical design and integrity, the mill and gearless mill drive integration, as well as assets management aspects of this type of equipment are the key to guarantee successful availability records. Together with an overview of the added value provided by large single line grinding circuits, this paper focuses on risk mitigation strategies during mill and gearless mill drive integration, as well as on the design of the equipment itself, for the key aspects which could put at risk the operations availability.INTRODUCTIONDespite a large long term demand for commodities, the mining industry has never faced complex challenges as it is doing today. Decreasing high-quality and accessible deposits, declining ore grades in existing mines, shortages of electrical energy (e.g. in Chile) and an aging workforce are the most significant among the megatrends affecting our industry. In addition to this, flat underlying commodity prices and high price volatility are currently posing strong requirements to miners when entering into the process of approving investments.Nowadays to get projects financially approved (optimizations, expansions, new plants), capital expenditure has to be reduced, as observed up to 30% compared to the last decade, and at the same time the plant design has to be such to demonstrate that operating costs will also be significantly lower than in the past.When it comes to the concentrator plant, the concept of large single line grinding circuits provides a valid answer in project feasibility studies by significantly reducing the capital investment requirements compared to parallel lines for the same plant throughput rates. Since 1950, a total of 164 miles of levels and rooms have been roof-bolted in the collieries of the Dominion Coal Company. Roof bolting is an efficient and economic method of sup-port where heavy timber sets or steel booms are necessary for temporary roof support, or where conventional methods of support interfere with the passage of mechanical mining equipment. This paper discusses present roof bolting practices and special bolting applications. THE practice of roof bolting in be collieries of the Dominion Coal Company dates from 1950, when preliminary studies and experiments were carried out in a mechanized room and pillar section of Dominion No. 20 Colliery. These studies were made in close liaison with members of the United States Bureau of Mines who were conducting similar studies. Following the successful application of roof bolting in No. 20 Colliery, this method of roof support was introduced into other collieries

"Airborne electromagnetic surveys were flown during 1965 in the Moose River area of Ontario. The systems used were INPUT Mark II and the Canadian Aero Otter. Anomalies indicated by both systems were located on the ground with vertical-loop EM. Two such anomalies were drilled, with no explanation being found in the bedrock geology. Subsequent seismic, resistivity and gravity surveys indicated that the sources of these anomalies lay in the overburden. Current work in the similar geological environment of the Winisk River area has shown that comparable AEM anomalies can still be misleading. The lesson to be, learned from these experiences is that additional geophysical work can help to resolve doubtful cases before drilling decisions are made."

"Detailed characterization and improved recovery of a micro-fine, low-grade refractory gold ore from a beneficiation plant in Yunnan Province, China, was investigated. Different analytical techniques, such as videlicet size analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and mineral analysis by a Mineral Liberation Analyser, were used for mineralogical characterization of the ore. This paper describes an experimental study on the effect of the grinding fineness and the use of various flotation reagent regimes involving collectors, depressors, and activators on the flotation behaviour of micro-fine auriferous pyrite. Two-stage flotation resulted in high gold grade (32.71 g/t) and gold recovery (80.02%) of the bulk gold concentrate. This process opens the possibilities of maximizing Au recoveries in a micro-fine low-grade refractory gold ore where low recoveries are common.INTRODUCTIONWith the rapid development of the gold industry, refractory gold ores are becoming increasingly important resources for gold production (O’Connor & Dunne, 1994; Agorhom, Skinner, & Zanin, 2012). Among these refractory gold ores, sulfur and micro-grained native gold ores represent a significant challenge, since they are not amenable to gold recovery by direct cyanidation. The gold contained in this type of ore is very finely disseminated and encapsulated in sulfides, which makes it inaccessible to the cyanide solution during direct cyanidation (Bulatovic, 1997; Allan & Woodcock, 2001). Autoclave pressure oxidation (AC POX) of the sulfide ore and subsequent cyanidation is a common technology used to recover the gold in such types of ore. Flotation is often used as a pre-treatment method to refractory gold ore (Monte Lins, & Oliveira, 1997).As the gold-carrier minerals are usually finely disseminated (sometimes under 10 µm) and intimately associated with gangue minerals, a fine grind is necessary to get a high degree of liberation. At the same time, the fine grind usually causes the production of significant quantities of slimes, which comprise easy-to-float gangue minerals such as mica, dolomite, and calcite. These mineral phases are naturally hydrophobic and float readily, competing with the value minerals in the froth phase and resulting in lower concentrate grades."

"IntroductionAS COMPARED with coal mines in the United States, and even with some of those in eastern Canada, the coal mines of western Canada, generally speaking, :have made little progress toward mechanization at the working faces. So far as Vancouver island is concerned, there are three main reasons for this : ( 1 ) in some areas, conditions• easy for hand-loading but unsuitable for mechanical loading make high outputs per man •possible by the former method; (2) faulting of the coal seams in ..some areas precludes long-term planning and the introduction and efficient use of expensive equipment; (3) thinness •and other characteristics of the seams in many areas favour hand-loading.No. 8 MINENo. 8 mine of Canadian Collieries (Dunsmuir), Limited, is located in the Cumberland sub-area of the Comox coalfield on Vancouver island about 90 miles west-northwest of Vancouver. The geological structure of this coalfield has been described by J. D. McKenzie. The seams occur in the Comox formation, a subdivision of the Upper Cretaceous Nanaimo Group. The formation is of near-shore origin and was laid down on an irregular surface of' older rocks. The irregular generally have a northeasterly dip, modified by gentile folds and by a •few large, and a number of smaller, faults.Four seams have been worked in the Cumberland area and all vary in thickness and in the amount and number of interstratified bone and rock •bands."

This paper presents the results of an investigation of a full-scale rod mill. Appropriate numerical techniques are developed for the experimental determination of the parameters of a dynamic mathematical model from steady state data. The results confirm that this full-scale rod mill behaves similarly to laboratory-scale ball mills for which results have previously been obtained. It is noted, however, that although the model presented is adequate for predicting over-all particle size distributions, the size distributions of individual components of a multicomponent ore cannot be predicted.

Introduction It is the purpose of this paper to discuss a number of the metallurgical improvements in the technology of copper-nickel ore treatment which have been introduced during recent years in the plants of ?the International Nickel Company of Canada, Limited. In common with other ore treatment processes, the procedure for extracting nickel and copper is changing almost continuous! y. These changes are necessitated by reason of changes in ore grades and characteristics, rising material and labour charges, and the constant drive to maximize metal recovery and to minimize production costs. It is not possible to present a comprehensive list of all the changes made, and only a selected number of the improvements in the milling, smelting, and refining operations are covered. It should be clearly understood that some phases of the procedures described have been pioneered by others in kindred fields and due acknowledgment is given to their foresight and efforts. Articles have been published over the years describing the operations of the International Nickel Company plants and the reader is referred to the Engineering and Mining Journal, Vol. 130, No. 9, November 10th, 1930, and to the Canadian Mining Journal, Vol. 58, No. 11, November, 1937, and Vol. 67, No. 5, May, 1946. Alloying with rare-earth elements has been proven to be an important tool for magnesium to achieve superior properties via texture randomization. The role of yttrium in texture weakening and the link between texture and formability are fairly well known. Since annealing is a vital part of metal processing which could significantly contribute to ductility, it is important to ascertain the impact of annealing in terms of texture change. Also, an understanding about texture development during pre- and post-deformation annealing is essential to improve the industrial deformation processing as texture is closely related to formability. While there is independent information in the literature regarding the effect of rare-earth addition and heat treatment on the texture formation, no systematic studies have been reported on the collective impact of yttrium addition, annealing and deformation on texture evolution. The present study was, therefore, aimed to identify the inter-relationship among texture evolution, yttrium content, heat treatment and deformation behavior in an extruded Mg-Zn-Mn-Y alloy. Annealing at 450°C for 1 hour and uniaxial compression tests at a certain amount of deformation were performed. The deformed and annealed samples were then subjected to annealing and compression test, respectively, followed by texture measurements. It was observed that yttrium addition effectively weakened the crystallographic texture in all conditions, which was evident from the changes in the microstructures and textures.

"The future of Polish copper mines KGHM Polish Miedz S.A. will be associated with mining at depth. At present, technologically advanced measures are being introduced to minimize the adverse influence of the environmental hazards on people working underground. Polkowice-Sieroszowice mine is the only mine in Poland where mining takes place in copper and salt deposits. On the basis of the current and anticipated methods of ventilation of a selected ore deposits the paper will analynze a number of solutions enabling planned mining of copper ore deposit, while minimizing the impact of natural aerological hazards in working areas. INTRODUCTION The future of copper ore mining, carried out by KGHM Polska Miedz S.A., will be based on mining from continuously greater depths (Butra, 2015). It is forecast that this will be accompanied by an increasing climatic hazard, resulting from an increase in the original temperature of rocks of more than 45°C as well as gas and geodynamic hazards (Soroko, 2015; Andrusikiewicz, 2015). Due to the safety of underground teams, a need arises to develop methods eliminating the adverse impact of the natural hazards, down to a level enabling the mining activity to be carried out on an industrial scale while maintaining favourable economic parameters. Current depths of the copper ore deposit being developed are effectively verifying the technical methods and measures employed to date for eliminating the natural aerological hazards. Amounts of air supplied to mining areas, with lengthy transport routes, are becoming insufficient for miners’ temperature safety, whereas increasing the power of cooling air-conditioning stations for cooling the air undermines the economic legitimacy. However, along with the temperature hazard, a significant problem at the current depths is an increase in gaseous occurrences in the headings’ areas. The concentrations of natural harmful gases found, even with the values below the permissible concentrations, in the case of limited amounts of air and/or low airflow rates, may pose a considerable danger to the workers. The hazards referred to are currently the major factors determining the advance of headings, above all in mining sections, being the outcome of geological structure and depth of lying of a deposit. However, at the current depths of mining minerals from deposits, room-and-pillar mining systems employed also have a decisive impact on the increase in natural aerological hazards."

"Lundin Mining’s Eagle Operation, located in Marquette County, northern Michigan consists of a mine and concentrator that processes a Ni-Cu-(PGE) ore. Mine production began in 2014 and is expected to achieve production of approximately 23,000 tonnes of Ni and 20,000 tonnes of Cu per year. The ore is trucked to the Humboldt Mill, where both a Ni and Cu concentrate is produced.XPS Consulting & Testwork Services (XPS) has assisted the team at Eagle since 2013. Prior to start up, the ore was piloted at the XPS lab in Sudbury, Ontario to demonstrate the concentrator flowsheet and establish flotation operating strategy. XPS consulting metallurgists worked closely with the Eagle team during the commissioning of the plant providing troubleshooting, sampling, metal balancing expertise and support. Finally, a series of monthly composites over a 6 month period was submitted for mineralogical characterization to assess plant performance, identify opportunities for improvement and to provide a baseline for the future operation.Lundin’s investment to test the ores ahead of mining and to team with XPS’s experienced mineral processing engineers to help commission the plant has led to the plant achieving concentrator production targets shortly after startup. The commitment to training and implementation of best practices, and a culture where ongoing testing is the norm, puts the Eagle Operation on sound footing for future operation.INTRODUCTIONLundin’s Eagle Mine is a subsidiary of Lundin Mining located in the upper peninsula of Michigan. The mine itself is an underground operation and the ore is trucked from the Eagle mine site 2 hours to the Humboldt mill.The ore is an ultramafic hosted high grade Cu Ni deposit and exists as either massive or semi massive sulphides. The high resource grade of Cu (2.49%) and Ni (2.93%) make this a valuable ore source. (Owen & Meyer, 2013) A metallurgical team was put together by Lundin to ensure the mill was designed and commissioned to optimize metallurgy in the shortest time from this valuable deposit. The commissioning plan targeted commercial production by Q1 2015."

"Limestone-bearing strata are exposed in seven areas of Alberta, each situated adjacent to rail and road facilities. Six of these centers are located along the eastern edge of the Foothills and Front Ranges of the Rocky Mountains in western Alberta. The other is in northeastern Alberta, along the eastern margin of the Alberta Basin. High-grade limestones are present in Middle Cambrian, Upper Devonian and Mississippian strata. Middle Cambrian (Eldon Formation) limestones have been exploited only in the Exshaw area west of Calgary, where they formerly were used for lime production. Limestone beds of the Upper Devonian Palliser Formation are exploited at Exshaw and at Cadomin in west-central Alberta for the manufacture of cement. Reserves of high-grade limestone also are available in the Palliser Formation near Crowsnest Lake in southwestern Alberta and near BrUle, west of Edmonton. Upper Devonian limestones of the Waterways Formation are widespread in the Fort McMurray area of northeastern Alberta, but available data indicate they are of inferior quality to the limestone deposits of the Rocky Mountains regions. The Mississippian Livingstone Formation contains large reserves of high-grade limestone at several localities in the Rocky Mountains and Foothills. Commercial development of the unit is now underway at Crowsnest Lake and at Exshaw for lime production, and future exploitation of these beds is feasible at Blairmore and Nordegg."

"According to the geometrical characteristics of triangular meshes, Triangular Mesh Split Model (TMSM) based on a finite element method is proposed to simulate cracks propagation of fractured rock. With TMSM, stress intensity factors at the tip of cracks are obtained by far-field contour integral. Meanwhile, vector cross multiplication is adopted to fix the cracking unit, and maximum circumferential stress criterion is used to determine the crack propagation angle. Then crack dynamic propagation simulation is realized through local mesh split or node movement at crack tip. With this method, the crack can split apart a unit or extend along the mesh boundary, so the crack could extend along an arbitrary path and is not restricted by the initial mesh. The applicability of the mesh split algorithm is verified by the crack propagation examples of wing crack and multi-fractured rock mass with holes. The results show that this method not only has higher accuracy of fracture parameters calculation, but also can accurately simulate the crack initiation and propagation of rock under complex stress state such as tension, compression and shear. In addition, the far contour integral is introduced to determine the crack tip stress intensity factor and there is no need to reconstruct a singular element at the crack tip or to intensify the meshes. Compared with the existing mesh reconstruction algorithm, this method significantly improves the computational efficiency.INTRODUCTIONGenerally, rock is neither the full continuum, nor entirely discrete body, but rich in geological defects, such as joints and cracks. A large amount of geotechnical engineering practice shows that most fracture of rock is closely related to the internal joints, cracks and crack expansion (Horii et al., 1985; Wong et al., 1998). Although the classical theory of fracture mechanics established the theoretical foundation of crack initiation, propagation, so far it is still extremely difficult to characterize the propagation of airfoil-typed crack and the interference problem of multiple cracks. Up to now, the micromechanics mechanism research of crack propagation of fractured rocks has still been a hot research topic of rock fracture mechanics."

THE Pinchi Lake mercury belt is in central British Columbia, about fifty miles north of the Prince Rupert branch of the Canadian National railway (Figure 1). Until 1936 little was known about the geology of this area. Jn 19~6 and 1937, J. G. Gray and the writer mapped the Fort Fraser area (G.S.C. maps 630A and 631A) for the Geological Survey of Canada. During the field season of 1937, cinnabar was discovered by J. G. Gray in the Permian limestones on the north shore of Pinchi lake on what have since proved to be the main showings of the Pinchi Lake mercury mine. Claims were staked in the spring of 1938 and later that year were optioned to the Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company. Development work revealed cinnabar deposits of commercial size and grade, and a small reduction plant was erected, production of mercury commencing in June, 1940. Since 1940, this plant has been enlarged by additional units. The ore treated is reported to contain between 0.5 and 0.75 per cent mercury. The production of mercury from this deposit is now far in excess of Canadian requirements and this country is able to supply the United Kingdom with part of its needs. In 1940 and 1941, several other occurrences of cinnabar were found northwest of Pinchi lake. During 1941, the writer made a geological investigation of the known cinnabar occurrences and of the belt of country in which they are located. The present paper summarizes the results of this work. The writer is indebted to officials of the Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company, and to Mr. E. Bronlund of the Pinchi Lake mine in particular, for their generous co-operation in the work.

"THE FOLLOWING are some comments on the article, ""International Trade in Minerals and Economic Development"", by M. Sengupta, published in the October 1976 issue of the CIM Bulletin.Sengupta says in the introduction that ""The mechanism through which this growth (economic development) has occurred is basic ally straight forward"". His statement is quite misleading and perhaps it is better to quote Gerald Meier:""Development economists must operate in an imperfect second-best world, away from the simplified premises of neoclassical economics. Their subject matter is therefore not yet a coherent or self-contained discipline. Denied recourse to a set of general principles, perhaps the student's most sensible introduction to economic development is through a study of 'leading issues' that are at the time a major preoccupation of the development economist and development practitioner"" .Sengupta quotes an authority who wrote 18 years ago. Academic and operating development economists today know full well that existing theory is quite deficient. Sociologists, political scientists and engineers in this field also know that economic, social, political and technical development involves all academic disciplines.Sengupta indicates that tariffs in developed countries prevent less developed countries from supplying refined metal, or manufactured and semi-manufactured products. He lists Zambia, Chile and Zaire as examples of copper concentrate exporters, as inadequately shown in Table 1. He is wrong."

RICE LAKE-BERESFORD LAKE area, situated 100 miles northeast of Winnipeg (Figure 1), is Manitoba's foremost gold mining district, although it is exceeded in gold production in the Province by the Flin Flon base-metal mining district. At present, the area is producing at the rate of about one and three-quarter million dollars annually, almost entirely from the San Antonio and Gunnar mines. The total production to date is about $14,000,000. Of this total, over $7,000,000 has come from the San Antonio mine, over $2,000,000 from the Gunnar mine, about $4,000,000 from the Central Manitoba mine, and the balance from several smaller properties. The writer has led Geological Survey parties in the area for the past four summers. The present paper gives a summary of the results of this work and also includes the findings of C. S. Lord, who was in charge of a party for one year. Much valuable information was obtained from earlier published reports on the area and from officials of mining companies, to whom the writer is indebted for their kindly co-operation. It is impossible in this short paper to give proper credit to the earlier workers or to discuss certain points o disagreement between their conclusions and those presented here. Abstract This paper is an account of an investigation made by the Dominion Observatory with a gravity meter and magnetometer over sulphide concentrations at East Sullivan, Val d'Or, Que., in June, 1947. The topographic relief over the area does not exceed 20 feet. The overburden varies from 0 co 50 feet. The west orebody had been outlined by extensive drilling. The average density contrast between the sulphide body and surrounding rocks is 0.5. Two hundred and sixty gravity and one hundred and ninety magnetic stations were observed. The results are shown on contour sketches. A derailed account is given of the methods employed to reduce the gravity observations. The survey shows that both gravimetric and magnetic methods are useful in delineating sulphide deposits under the conditions in which they occur at East Sullivan. The results indicate that the buried contact of the syenite intrusive southeast of the orebody could be traced with the gravimeter and chat the magnetometer was of little value for that purpose. Gravity anomalies due to the varying depths of overburden are negligible as compared to the magnitude of the total anomalies. Introduction The project was first suggested at a meeting of the Associate Committee on Geophysics of the National Research Council in September, 1946. At that time it was pointed out that the accuracy and speed of operation of the new gravity meters made them of special importance for geophysical prospecting and it was highly desirable to have an objective test of the performance of an instrument of this kind in delineating an orebody of known dimensions and density characteristics. Several years ago, a private company did some work with a gravimeter over the Amulet deposits, near Noranda. Unfortunately, the topography there is rather rugged, with hills and ravines exceeding 100 feet, so that the topographical effects rendered it impracticable to distinguish between anomalies due to the sulphides and those due to surface irregularities. An orebody of a typical nature, where the disturbing topographical corrections were not excessive, was therefore sought.

"Yielding bolt has been widely used for rock reinforcement in mining and civil engineering in high stress conditions. However, the interaction mechanism of yielding bolt and matrix mass is still not clear at present, and no analytical model is available to predict its reinforcement effect quantitatively. In this paper, the mainstream yielding rock bolts were reviewed firstly. After that, a coupling model is proposed to account for the interaction between yielding bolt and matrix mass. Based on the plane strain axial symmetry assumption and the incremental theory of plasticity, equilibrium equations and compatibility equations of matrix mass, and also the response of yielding rock bolt are deduced theoretically. The proposed method was programmed in Visual Basic development environment, and a semi-analytical solution for the coupling model is achieved. The reinforcement mechanism of yielding bolt in conventional tunnelling is clearly demonstrated through an illustrative case study. The reinforcement effect of yielding bolt is estimated quantitatively, and the distribution of axial force along the bolt is presented. In addition, the validity of proposed method is verified by numerical simulations. INTRODUCTIONHigh stress in surrounding rock mass can cause serious stability problems such as massive squeezing in soft rock and rock burst in hard rock. It is observed that many conventional rock bolts failed when experiencing large displacement, which implies that they are too stiff to sustain large deformation and dynamic conditions (Stillborg, 1994; Hoek et al., 1995). Yielding bolt, which can also be called energy-absorbing bolt, has been widely used for rock reinforcement in mining and civil engineering for these conditions (Neugebauer, E., 2008). This paper focuses on the static reinforcement effects of the yielding bolts with analytical method and numerical simulations."

"The Code was developed in 2004 through the Collaboration Agreement between Institution of Mining Engineers of Chile (IIMCh) and the Ministry of Mining (Chile) in Dec 2002. It is an amalgamation of current practices with respect to standards and procedures for exploration prospects, mineral resources, and reserves for the purpose of public reporting. Certification is required to prepare and issue information on mineral assets according to the guidelines that regulate the technical, economic, and environmental aspects that satisfy the conditions set by the Chilean capital and financial markets.The Mineral Resources Committee of the Instititution of Mining Engineers of Chile (IIMCh) is pleased to introduce theCode for the Certification of Exploration Prospects, Mineral Resources and Reserves which is the result of a Collaboration Agreement between the IIMCh and the Ministry of Mining established in December, 2002.This code synthetizes the present practice of the mining industry in regard to standards and procedures applied to exploration prospects, mineral resources, and reserves with the purpose of reporting publicly on financial instruments based on these mine assets in the capital markets. These standards follow general criteria already adopted and applied by capital markets in those countries characterized by a very dynamic and well developed mining sector such as Australia, Canada, Southafrica, United Kingdom, and others. The work done by the Mineral Resources Committee of the IIMCh has had the recognition of the Combined Reserves International Reporting Standards Committee (CRIRSCO) that leads the establishement of an international code in these matters. CRIRISCO is an entity formed by representatives of the countries previously mentioned, a representative of the Society of Mining Engineers of the UStates and a representative of the IIMCh. Demand for metals will continue to grow as global population numbers and prosperity levels steadily increase. Consequently, there will continue to be a need to design and construct new metallurgical plants. Business success in general requires projects to be financially successful and return appropriate value to their owners. However, in the metals industry, private and public sector financing sources have become very sensitive to the perceived inability of projects to contain costs and meet other business objectives. Thus, the capital for projects has become more difficult and expensive to obtain. It is instructive to note that Ernst and Young (2011) identified that: “Delivery of predictable project results bestows competitive advantage and market confidence to those corporations who successfully instill this discipline”. The implication for future projects is that they must be systematically developed to minimize perceived risks—and more importantly—to demonstrate that the risks are managed to achieve the business case. Then, provided that the project has been developed in a well-structured way, project success can again be defined as a project with: a final cost within 10% of the budget approved at the end of FEL3, when the project is properly defined and the permit conditions are agreed upon; a start-up date within three months of the definitive, scheduled startup date; production levels at 85% of design capacity within a year of starting commercial operation; production meeting the target environmental restrictions; and with zero lost time accidents during construction and startup. The plant design is one of many integrated activities required to achieve these objectives. This book represents a valuable link between the existing engineering literature that encompasses a wide range of engineering fundamental textbooks and design manuals and the project management literature such as the Project Management Body of Knowledge, or PMBOK® (Project Management Institute, 2014). It is evident throughout this book, that the design team is a small but essential part of a much larger project team comprising the project management, construction management, and construction contractor staff. Design activities must be regarded and managed as part of the integrated whole, with two fundamental links throughout the design process:
