This paper explores the financial impact of the initial version of the Saskatchewan Potash Reserve Tax; first, a one; and second, in conjunction with the other taxes affecting the industry's profitability. A though the introduction of the Reserve Tax is shown to lead to a substantia increase in a hypothetical firm's effective tax burden, the more unusual outcomes frequently attributed to this levy on y occur after the imposition of other non-provincial tax rulings. Despite this qualification, the results obtained suggest that the Reserve Tax undoubted y acted as a catalyst in the polarization of attitudes during the ear y period of industry/government confrontation

THE Utah coal field to which the name Book Cliffs is applied runs in a northeast direction from Mt. Hilgarde, in Sevier county, along the escarpment of the Wasatch Plateau to the vicinity of Castle Gate, thence southeast along the Book cliffs, which lie to the north of and generally within sight of the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad,. to the Colorado line. The Book cliffs form the southern escarpment of the West and East Travaputs Plateaus, and vary in height from 2,000 to 6,000 ft. At the base of the Wasatch and Book Cliffs escarpments is a broad plain known as Castle valley. The coal beds outcropping in the escarpments along this valley are worked on the largest scale of any in the State, and this particular area is known locally as the Castle Valley coal field. Geology The Book cliffs are capped by the Tertiary-Eocene-formation, consisting of varicolored shales; buff sandstone, conglomerate, and subordinate thin beds of limestone. Different sections show diverse stratigraphy. This is mainly the Wasatch formation, and lies unconformably upon the rocks of the Upper Cretaceous. Fig. 1 is a generalized section of the rocks of the. Book Cliffs field. The Mesaverde formation contains the cliff-making rocks of the Book cliffs, and is composed of massive sandstone interbedded with sandy shales and beds of coal and carbonaceous shale. The sandstone has greater resistance to erosion and the formation is characterized by escarpment ledges and cliffs. The shale is commonly sandy and is drab in color, but where it is associated with the coal it is usually carbonaceous. The sandstone is generally buff, though occasionally it is white, and in places red. The bedding ranges from thin to massive. In the lower part. of the formation the sandstone is red in

Not much more is known about concrete today than was known to the Romans. For all the research only better tools have resulted to measure the quality of the materials that go into it." In this paper "some of the materials for lightweight concrete and their characteristics are considered and effort is made to indicate their effect on the end result — a structure of lightweight concrete." Lightweight concrete had noble beginnings. It is believed that the first specification for lightweight concrete was written by the Roman Emperor Hadrian in the early years of his reign, 117-138 AD. Hadrian, was an engineer by trade and an Emperor by adoption. He took considerable interest in the structures sponsored during his reign, even to the point of working out the structural details and preparing working drawings for some of the more prominent works in the vicinity of Rome. In order to reduce the dead weight of the 140 ft diam dome of the Pantheon he specified that the lightweight structural concrete members supporting this concrete and tile composite dome were to be fabricated from a concrete containing pumice and scoria. Still standing after 18 centuries of abuse, this structure has been described as the master effort of a great structural genius, the ultimate achievement of Roman engineering skill.' The Romans were the first to employ many concrete techniques we think of as modem innovations. Some unnamed superintendent noted that when a carefully measured amount of pigs blood was measured into each batch of concrete during mixing, the concrete was more durable and exhibited much better resistance to freezing and thawing climates. He no doubt, attributed this success to the appeasement of one of the gods who in return provided protection for the building containing this sacrificial offering in its walls. It is known today that the blood-entrained air in the concrete tends to make mixtures more workable, resistant to moisture penetration and more resistant to frost damage.

Pictured on these pages are seven of the eight RMCMI Scholarship Award Winners for the 1993- 94 year followed by a brief profile. Seven of the eight winners were present as guests of the Institute at the June convention in Snowmass Village, Colorado to receive recognition at the Institute Awards Luncheon Monday, June 27, 1994. Due to another conflict. Jason T. Dale of Wyoming was unable to attend. Each state vice president sewed as the host for the collegiate winner. In addition to receiving a plaque from the Scholarship Chairman. Alan Czarnowsky, each winner receives $750 tuition credit for the coming academic year, as well as transportation, hotel lodging and meals at convention as guests of the Institute. Because this is a continuing award, the winners from the previous year will receive another $750 for tuition credit in their senior year if they have maintained good academic standing and are recommended by their university. A resident from each of the eight RMCMI member states is selected from among Board approved institutions. Criteria for these awards to be made in the spring annually is (1) That the award be made to a sophomore student and used as tuition during the junior year. (2) That the recipient be both a U.S. citizen and a resident of the member state. (3) That the recipient have good academic standing, be pursing a degree in a mining related field and have an expressed interest in Western coal as a possible career path. The scholarship program includes curricula other than those in the mining departments, but in engineering disciplines, such as geology, mineral processing and metallurgy. Contributions to this worthy project are tax deductible to each individual RMCMI member or his firm. Through annual donations of $100 or more, the Patrons of the Institute fund the scholarship program and the various vice presidents contribute the travel expenses to convention for these outstanding young collegiates. She told the Scholarship Chairman that if she wasn't part of the solution, she was part of the problem. Christy has received numerous awards during school including being on the honor roll and university chapters of Society of Mining Engineers. Besides her academic activities, which includes being a member of Student Council, Christy is quite an athlete and enjoys basketball, softball, tennis, golf, and soccer. "There is no fast way to add more than 6.4 km (4 miles) of track, most of it underground, to the Sound Transit Link Light Rail system in the Seattle, WA area. But increasingly busy traffic through a number of neighborhoods made it necessary. That’s the challenge a joint venture of several tunneling contractors faced when starting its portion of the $1.9-billion Northgate Link Extension in 2013, and the project is still keeping it busy three years later. Completion will mean just a 14-minute ride from Northgate to downtown for an extra 60,000 passengers by 2030. The transit lines will join 57 km (36 miles) of new and under-construction light rail lines running north, east and south from Seattle.Voters tired of long commute times approved the project, a key part of Seattle’s regional mass transit system, in 2008. The extension is part of a plan adopted by the Sound Transit board in 1996 to connect the region’s major activity centers. The Northgate project is meant to relieve one of the area’s most congested traffic areas by connecting the Northgate, Roosevelt and University District neighborhoods to existing routes including downtown Seattle and SeaTac airport.Sound Transit dedicated more than a quarter of the project’s estimated expense — $440 million -— to general contractor JCM Northlink LLC to handle the tunnel segment. JCM is a joint venture formed in 2013 between Jay Dee Contractors of Livonia, MI, Frank Coluccio Construction of Seattle, WA and Michels Corp. of Brownsville, WI. The contractors regularly collaborate on large-scale projects and brought experience working on a different section of the extension they completed in 2013.JCM project leaders knew immediately that the schedule would be demanding. They had to work around the clock six days a week to meet deadlines. The extension runs through highly populated areas, meaning contractors had to follow strict city noise restrictions between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. Plus, supervisors needed to manage the scheduling of nearly 250 employees to keep work running smoothly.“We had eight different operations and four different subcontractors trying to work in one tunnel,” said Chris Wood, JCM site project superintendent. “It’s important that we keep work linear. That’s the biggest challenge: keeping a path in and out so you can pour concrete, keep electricians and carpenters going, and accomplish everything else.”"

In 1984, at the request of the Bureau of Land Management, the Bureau of Mines studied 29,020 acres of the 43,165-acre Terry Badlands Wilderness Study Area (MT-024-684) in order to evaluate its mineral resources. Within this report, these 29,020 acres are referred to as the study area. Located in Custer and Prairie Counties, MT, the study area is about 2 miles northwest of Terry. The study area is underlain by essentially flat-lying units of the Fort Union Formation of Paleocene age with some Quaternary alluvial deposits in stream valleys. No mines or prospects were found in the study area. Bentonitic clays and lignite coal units were examined and sampled; however, no clay resources or coal reserves were identified. Estimates of coal resources will be reported by the U.S. Geological Survey in a joint U.S. Geological Survey-U.S. Bureau of Mines publication. Gravel along the Yellowstone River, a source of agate for private collectors, could also be used as sand and gravel aggregate although material on the south bank of the river is closer to population centers and road systems. Clinker found in the study area could be a source of road metal, but is not well situated in relationship to areas of use. No geothermal resources have been identified although water suitable for direct heat applications may underlie the study area. All the area is leased for oil and gas exploration.

This paper evaluates factors which influence longwall support and strata interaction. The longwall system is composed of an immediate and main roof structure and three supporting foundations: 1) longwall panel, 2) powered roof supports, and 3) gob waste. The main roof forms a structure that is generally supported by all three foundations, while the immediate roof acts as a beam that cantilevers from the coal face to the powered support. In most cases, shield loading involves a complex interaction of both main roof and immediate roof behavior and is a combination of loads produced from subsidence of the main roof and displacements of the immediate roof caused by deformations of the cantilevered roof beam. Since the shield stiffness remains constant for all leg pressures and main roof convergence is irresistible in terms of shield capacity, the shield must be able to control the behavior of the immediate roof or floor structure for shield loading to be sensitive to setting pressures. If the goal is to minimize total shield loading, any active setting force must be offset by reduced passive shield loading to justify the active setting loads. Field data suggest that the typical reductions in passive loading do not justify the required increases in setting pressure in some applications.

Tuttle Creek Dam was constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the 1950?s on the Big Blue River in north-east Kansas. Since the dam is located in a seismic area, the safety of the dam was re-evaluated under the national U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Dam Safety and Assurance Program. After a series of studies and analyses performed by the Kansas City District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in 2003 the Department of the Army authorized the implementation of the plan ?Stabilize Foundation Soil without Drawdown Alternative?, during a 7-10 year construction period. As part of this plan, in 2006 Treviicos South carried out a large scale jet grouting and deep mixing test program downstream the dam. The test program included the installation of twenty-seven double and triple-fluid jet grout columns and twenty-seven jet-assisted deep mix columns. The jet grout columns were constructed at different levels of specific energy and cement content. The deep mix columns ranged in diameter between 3 ft and 6 ft. During column placement, the drilling and grouting parameters, pore pressures, and soil movements were instrumented in real-time. The downstream test area was enclosed by a cement-bentonite wall extended to bedrock, which allowed a 35-ft deep open excavation around the 45-ft deep columns. The exposed jet grout columns measured up to 15 ft in diameter, exceeding the anticipated target diameter. In addition to coring, some of the jet grout and soil mix test columns were saw-cut along the group axis, providing useful information on the internal column structure.

Heats of solution of silver and copper in dilute Ag-Cu-Sn alloys at 720°K have been determined using a liquid metal-solution calorieter. Values of the se2f-interaction coefficient n AgAghave been calculated at constant copper concentrations and n Cu Cuhas been determined at constant silver contents. The reliability of the experimental data is shown by the very good agreement between nCujAg and ij &$; these interaction coefficients have experimental values of -9100 and - 9590 cal per g-atom, respectively. Certain solution models are shown to be inadequate for prediction of solute interaction coefficients in dilute Ag-Cu-Sn alloys. In a previous publication' the results of a thermody-namic study of dilute Ag-Au-Sn alloys were presented. The present work represents the continuation of a program to investigate dilute alloys of the noble metals with tin and in particular is concerned with solute interactions in the Ag-Cu-Sn system. By determination of the magnitude and sign of the various interaction coefficients in dilute alloys it is possible to gain some understanding of the different types of solute-solute and so lute-solvent bonding changes that occur as the solute concentrations are varied. Hence systematic studies of alloys with similar physical characteristics as regards size, structure, electronegativity, and so forth, of their components can contribute a great deal to present theoretical knowledge of solutions. The recent definition of an enthalpy interaction coefficient, 11, by Lupis and Elliott2 is of particular value in calorimetric studies such as the present one: where j and i are solutes and s is the solvent; Si is the relative partial molar enthalpy of component i and x represents the mole fraction of solute or solvent. Values of ?Hi can be obtained directly by solution calorimetry and data for n are thus easily determined, often with a high degree of accuracy. ?Hi is related to the relative partial molar enthalpy at infinite dilution, ?Hi and to the enthalpy interaction coefficients by the expression: ?Hi?Hi + X;nz+ ... [2] The aim of the present work was to determine the self-interaction coefficients n AgAgand 178: in alloys of different compositions and also to establish values for n Agcg| and ncuAg. Since it is a thermodynamic requirement (resulting from the Maxwell-type relationships which can be applied to partial molar properties) that nAgcu and ncuAg should be equal, a further aim of this study was to demonstrate the agreement between experiment and theory. EXPERIMENTAL A description of the liquid metal-solution calorimeter used in this research has already been published,3 and no further details of its construction and operation will therefore be given here. Copper supplied by the American Smelting and Refining Co. was indicated by them as being 99.999 pct pure, and the silver obtained from A. D. Mackay, Inc., was also quoted as being 99.999 pct pure. A solvent bath consisting of between 70 and 80 g of 99.99 pct pure Sn was used for each series of experimental drops. Its weight was accurately determined and the appropriate amounts of copper or silver were added to give alloys of the desired composition. Approximately 0.00125 g-atom additions were used for determinations of the heat of solution of silver in the bath, while, for copper, specimens consisting of approximately 0.0015 g-atom were used. The heat capacity of the bath was determined at regular intervals during a series of drops using tin or tungsten calibration samples. The heats of solution of silver and copper in pure tin were first determined as a function of their concentration in order to establish the self-interaction coefficients 7AgAg and ncucu Alloys containing a constant 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, and 0.04 mole fraction of copper were then used to study 17:: in alloys of different copper content, while alloys of the same mole fractions of silver were used to determine equivalent data for 178: at constant silver concentrations. The composition of the bath was held at the desired copper or silver concentration by making calculated additions of the appropriate solute throughout the experiment. From the limiting values of ?HAg in the constant copper content alloys it was possible to study ?HAg as a function of xCu and hence to determine 42:. A similar analysis of the re, values permitted calculation of nAgcu. Heat content and heat capacity data from Hultgren et al* were used to calculate heat of solution values from the measured heat effects at the experimental temperature of 720°K. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Determinations of ?HAg. A preliminary investigation of the heat of solution of silver in pure tin at 720°K was first made in order to establish the value of nAgAg before additions of copper were made and also to compare the value of ?HOAg(l) with that obtained in the previous study of Ag-Au-Sn alloys.' The Bureau of Mines used micro fracture density analysis of quartz grains in thin sections and diametric pulse velocity measurements along preblast and postblast cores to determine the nature and extent of rock damage produced by small (0.25-,0.50-,1.0-, and 2.0-kg) charges of high intensity explosive (C-4) in granite. Pulse velocities from the postblast cores were significantly lower than velocities from the preblast cores and, with the core logs, provided clear identification of the upper and sometimes the lower limits of most severe damage. These zones ranged from about 1.68 ft for the 0.25-kg blast to 4.16 ft for the 2.0-kg blast. Microfracture densities from postblast cores were significantly higher and more variable than densities measured from preblast cores. The microfracture density measurements showed that microscopic damage was present far past the zones of most severe damage as delineated by the pulse velocity logs and core logs. An exponential relation-ship was observed between the micro fracture density levels and the charge weight.

The oil crisis had repercussions throughout the world and most importantly on mining, where the drive to reduce the use of liquid fossil fuel led directly to the appearance and subsequent growth in the design of mobile crushers in late 1970s early 1980s, which heralded a new era in both quarrying and mining. Even though mobile crushing has now become common, even preferred in the quarrying industry, this has not been the case in mining. This paper looks at why, in spite of the initial optimism, this technology has yet to gain full acceptance in the mining industry. The paper examines some of the problems that have been encountered in the past and offers suggestions as to how they can be avoided by applying the appropriate technology. It then takes a look at the successful application of the semi-mobile in-pit crushing system used by Italian Thai Development Company (ITD), on the Mae Moh Phase 5 contract and examines how the techniques used successfully there could be applied to the industry at large.

"INTRODUCTION The tests described in this publication were planned to provide information on the explosibility of metal-powder dust clouds. This subject has become increasingly important because of the large quantity and variety of metallic powders now used for military and industrial purposes. To provide the increased amounts of metallic powders needed in the manufacture of munitions and to supply the demand created by the rapid growth of powder metallurgy, existing metal-powder plants have been enlarged, production schedules accelerated, and new plants erected. In some cases new methods of producing metal powders have been developed. This increased production and the development of new manufacturing methods have caused an increase in the number of metal-powder fires and explosions, with accompanying heavy loss of life and property. These have emphasized the need for information on methods of providing protection against hazards inherent in the production and handling of powdered metals. This paper gives results of laboratory inflammability and explosibility tests made to April 1, 1943, and is a progress report. Many descriptive details have been omitted purposely; they will supplied in a later publication, expected to be a Bureau of Mines bulletin."

"British Steel has increased its usage of stainless steel for bunker, silo and chute linings to reduce maintenance costs and improve productivity.A generation of low cost 12% Cr steels has been specifically developed to satisfy the needs of hardness, flow promotion and through life costing which are demanded by bulk solids handling industries.The range of stainless steels include:• a very hard martensitic grade which is particularly suitable for high stress applications where impact and abrasion are predominant;• a titanium stabilized duplex steel for structural applications, as well as low friction , medium abrasion resistant wear liner plate; and• a ferritic stainless steel with rubber backing for low stress application where flow promotion of product is the predominant requirement.Industrial applications and experiences along with methods of fixin g the stainless steels will be discussed in conjunction with the relative through-life costs of the products.IntroductionBritish Steel has become one of the most efficient steel manufacturers in the world, with improvements seen in productivity, quality, delivery, performance and response to the needs of the worldwide market place.Part of this success stems from reductions in engineering downtime in the key areas of its operations, by the introduction of better engineering design and the use of enhanced materials where significant cost benefits have been identified.The nature of producing iron and steel requires the use and handling of a number of raw materials with wide ranging properties, each calling for a different approach to solving the difficulties encountered in storing and transporting these materials to their respective point of use. Figure 1 shows steel production for 1988-89 where over 30 million tonnes of raw materials were handled in making 14 million tonnes of liquid steel at British Steel's five integrated works.Typically solid raw materials include, iron ore, coal, limestone, ferro alloys and scrap. Intermediate products such as coke and sinter create their own specific handling and wear problems.Coals and ores are shipped into the United Kingdom from several sources, and have a great variety of properties. Some coals can be extremely wet and sticky, whereas others are dry and dusty . The ores handled can vary from wet concentrate and fines to heavy angular rubble and pellets. These raw materials are off-loaded, stored and conveyed through British Steel's own port facilities at Port Talbot, Immingham, Redcar and Hunterston. British Steel also produces the majority of its own coke and all its own sinter. Coke and sinter are frequently handled at elevated temperatures which cause other handling problems."

Ferromanganese metasediments in the immediate vicinity of the Mid-Proterozoic Broken Hill Pb-Zn-Ag lodes, have undergone high grade (upper amphibolite facies) metamorphism,to form Mn-pyroxenoid (rhodonite,pyroxmangite) and garnet-rich lithologies. Such lithologies bear compositional (bulk rock,rare earth element)and morphological similarities to recent and ancient ferromanganese hydrothermal sediments of the Pacific.The non-metasomatic,stratiform garnetites are predominantly composed of magnesia-rich, calcium-poor almandine spessartine and quartz, which possess a bulk chemistry comparable to alumina-rich ferrommanganese oxide deposits of the Pacific. Such sediments are attributed to a mixed protolith comprised of clay and ferro-manganese oxides (mainly amorphous goethite with lesser todorockite-birnessite). Manganiferous pyroxenoid rocks are probably derived from alumina-poor ferromanganese cherts,similar to Japanese tetsusekiei.Rare earth element compositions ofBroken Hill garnetites are very similar to those of recent ferromanganese seafloor accumulations, suggestive of some genetic link.

The application of secondary producing methods for recovering additional oil from known fields has been recognized for many years as important to the economy of the nation. One of the most successful secondary methods is waterflooding, which conserves our natural resources by preventing premature abandoment of stripper leases and revitalizing previously abandoned areas. Waterflooding as a secondary-recovery method was introduced into the Midcontinent region in 1931, and its use as such has become widespread. As with most new methods, the most favorable fields and leases received primary attention, whereas those with viscous oil or less favorable sand characteristics were bypassed. The literature concerning the remelting of alunlinum and its alloys is very rich. Unfortunately the majority of the papers on this subject have no scientific value, for the theories or explanations are too often in opposition to the laws of physical chemistry. Furthermore only a few of the methods of purification are considered in the literature. Hence it has seemed necessary to the author to sketch a general theory of the purification of secondary aluminum. The purpose of the purification is to eliminate the impurities that the charges, and the atmosphere of the furnaces bring into the bath during the successive remelt-ings. Indeed scrap as well as metal can be used when soiled with oil, greases, water, or others, if it has been sufficiently dried and contains oxides. At the melting point of the metal, the oils and greases are decomposed into their constituent elements H², O2, H²O, co², CO, CH,, and others. These gases are added to the corresponding gases in the atmosphere of the furnace. The impurities introduced into the metal during the remelting will accordingly be the products resulting from the action of these gases on the liquid bath. The quantity of hydrogen that is soluble in aluminum and its alloys is given by the relation of sieverts3 as a function of its partial pressure PH2 in the atmosphere m = K vPH² [I] where K is a constant, which depends only upon the temperature and increases with it. The experiments of Rijntgen and Braun4, RÖntgen and M611er5, Bircum-shaw6 and Winterhagerl have rendered it possible to determine the value of K, when the temperature is less than 1.000°C. One obtains: log K = - 4,702.5T + o 238 [2] Besides its usual significance, the term Ph~ represents also the internal pressure of dissolved hydrogen, since in the equilibrium, that is1 when no gas exchange Occurs between the two phases, the Pressures of hydrogen in the metal and in the atmosphere must be equal. Eq I shows that when the partial pressure of H2 increases the amount of dissolved hydrogen in equilibrium increases, and that, if the contrary Occurs, the quantity of H² should diminish. However, if for any reason the diffusion of hydrogen is hindered and the total amount of dissolved gas remains constant while the temperature decreases, the internal pressure of H² increases until it reaches the value of the hydrostatic pressure. At this point, bubbles of hydrogen appear in the bath and escape out of it. The amount of hydrogen in the metal is then limited by a a depending On the hydro- static pressure, which is practically equal to one atmosphere. Indeed hydrogen does not accumulate in the form of a hydride appearing as a separate solid phase. However1 even the mechanism of the solubility is not yet elucidated. [On December 2, 1932, the Governor of California called upon the representatives of the mining industry of the State to attend a meeting at Sacramento to discuss ways and means of assisting is relieving some of its perplexing and extremely distressing problems, particularly the mounting cost of accidents which faces the industry with an industrial insurance rate for classification of $11.85 per $100 of pay roll, effective January 1, 1033. The significance of this fact is at once apparent when it is realized that the classification rates per $100 of pay roll for mining have steadily increased for some time, as follows: $3.91 in 1924, $5.54 in 1925 and 1926, $8.04 in 1927, $8.53 in 1928, $9.05 in 1929, $9.42 in 1930, $10.54 in 1931, $10.99 in 1952, and $11.85 in 1133. In other words, the cost rates have acre than doubled, wile statistics indicate that the accident rates nave shown an entirely different trend. At the meeting mentioned, one of the management officials sounded an effective keynote when he declared that a spade should be called: a spade. The perplexing problems of any industry can be approached best and remedies applied if that policy is kept to the front. It is appropriate to mention that high accident rates and a decrease in wages in recent years have unquestionably accounted in part for a unit cost rate, on a pay-roll basis; it also is well to explain that the policy years3 1926 to 1930, inclusive, are the years on which the accident-cost experience for 193: is based. "Stillwater Mining Company is the only U.S. producer of platinum group metals (PGMs) and the largest producer outside of South Africa and Russia. The Company controls a considerable portion of the J-M Reef and is currently developing the ""Blitz Project,"" which will provide a main haulage level, ore pass systems, backfill plants, and flow-through ventilation to increase production and ensure sustainable extraction of this critical strategic mineral. While driving two sub-parallel footwall laterals to about 8,125 m (26,000 ft) long, one of the development drifts experienced a massive fall in a geologically disturbed area created by a dike intrusion. Combinations of a void fill material (Tekseal), polyurethane injection, fore poling coupled with steel arches, and supplemental bolting allow safe and efficient advance through this geologically disturbed zone. The J-M Reef is a PGMbearing reef deposit located in the Stillwater Complex near NyeMontana. The mining property and location are shown in Figure 2.The Blitz Project is named after the Blitz mining claims and is developing the Eastern extent of the J-M Reef Project., This consists of a 5.5 m (18 ft) diameter TBM drive on the SOE (1,562 m (5,000 ft) above sea level and east of the shaft collar) and a 4.7 x 4.7 m (15 x 15 ft) drill and blast heading on the 5,600E (1,750 m (5,600 ft) above sea level and east of the shaft collar). The Benbow Decline will be completed running perpendicular to the TBM by drilling and blasting methods. The TBM drift will be used for exploration drilling, ventilation, and will serve as the main haulage level. The 56E will be used for ventilation and exploration drilling. The Benbow decline will serve as the exhaust drift."
