Statistics Canada record s indicate that in recent years 70 to 80% of the entire Canadian coal production originated from Western Canadian mines, in which about 55 to 65% of the coals are bituminous. Until recently, less than 20% of the latter were extracted by underground methods , the remainder being surface-mined. However, it is estimated that within the foreseeable future up to 80 or 90% will have to be gained by underground techniques. Although Western Canadian coal resources are considerable, they are unfortunately locked in severely distorted, steeply pitching and faulted seams of variable thickness. Consequently, their economic extraction poses serious engineering problems. One possible solution to the problems is to apply hydromechanical methods to underground mining. This is a well-proven method shown to be economically viable under Western Canadian conditions. This paper endeavours to widen the scope of published data on hydraulic coal mining and is based on practical engineering and cost data gathered through contacts with West German designers and operators of hydraulic mines.

We have studied the interaction of NO with the quasi-hexagonally reconstructed Au(100) surface. Using variable temperature scanning tunneling microscopy we have observed formation of the unreconstructed phase of Au(100) after NO exposure. This NO adsorption induced phase transition is observed in a window of temperatures around 170 K. Under the same conditions, CO and O2 cannot drive the phase transition, suggesting weaker interaction. Thermal desorption spectroscopy experiments provide an estimate for the strength of NO chemisorption on Au(100) of 57 ± 4 kJ mol-1.

Recently, 7xxx aluminum alloys have been evolved into new variants for thick semiproducts which have low amount of 2nd phases and low quench sensitivity. Commercial 7xxx alloys, especially in the thick forgings made of big ingots, often entail microstructural inhomogeneities and concurrent poor mechanical properties due to limited heating ranges and slower quench cooling. In this study, high strength aluminum alloy 7175 and 7050 are adjusted as an attempt to control the equilibrium phases (M-, T- and S-phase) to have optimum microstructure for the thick forging applications. The effects of the relative content of (Zn, Mg, Cu) on the evolutions of the coarse equilibrium phases, hardening response and resultant mechanical properties are investigated. Equilibrium phases (M,T,S) are evolved depending on the constitutional effect, primarily the change of Zn:Mg ratio, and cooling rate following solutionizing. The formation of the T- and S-phases is effectively controlled, and M-phases are homogeneously precipitated in the adjusted (dilute and high Zn:Mg ratio) alloys. It provides extended heating range and lower quench sensitivity than conventional alloys. The attempts ensure the microstructural homogeneity and improved properties, and is expected to be uniquely applicable in 7xxx thick forgings.

Zeta potentials and settling rates of an oil sands tailings sample taken from Syncrude Canada Ltd's Aurora Stacker Pilot Operation were studied. Two clay minerals, kaolinite and illite, were also studied since these are the major constituent minerals in the fine oil sands tailings. Process water, decanted water as well as distilled water were used. It was observed that the zeta potentials of the tailings solids showed maximum negative values in process water at pH 8-10, which coincides with the pH of commercial hot water bitumen extraction process. The settling rates of the tailings sample were very low, at 0.008 m/hr in decanted water and 0.04 m/hr in process water. The rates were increased to 1.0 m/hr in decanted water and 0.13 m/hr in process water at an addition of 50 g/t Ciba AF1235. Although the settling rate was higher the supernatant was cloudier in decanted water than in process water. Further increase in the dosages of Ciba AF1235 did not increase the settling rates in decanted water but gradually increased it in process water, reaching 0.46 m/hr at 100 g/t. The results indicated that lower concentrations of Ca2+ and Mg2 (in decanted water) benefited settling rates but did not benefit supernatant clarity. Test results also indicated that Ciba AF1235 caused selective flocculation of the tailings sample, since the top sediments had higher illite and lower quartz contents than the bottom sediments.

Introduction The copper smelter of the Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Company, Limited was constructed to handle the concentrates produced by the concentrator, the residues from the zinc plant, concentrates from Sherritt-Gordon Mines, Limited, and other custom material that might be available. Construction work was started in 1929 and the first concentrates were smelted in November, 1930. From that time until June, 1931, the operations were more or less of an experimental or tuning-up nature. In designing the smelter, it was believed the following tonnages would be available for smelting per day: Copper Tons Content H. B. M. & S. Co. concentrates 331 14.0 per cent H. B. M. & S. Co. zinc plant residues 77 2.5 per cent Sherritt-Gordon concentrates 200 20.0+ per cent Consideration was given to wet-smelting the charge, but, in order to give greater flexibility to the operation, it was finally decided to roast the concentrates before smelting. Briefly, the smelter equipment consists of three Nichols-Herreshoff roasters, one reverberatory furnace, two Peirce-Smith converters, a Walker casting wheel, and a four-unit Cottrell plant, two units' for the roaster gases and two for the converter gases. A general plan of the smelter is shown in Figure 1. Prior to the commencement of smelter operations, a stockpile of about 9,000 tons of concentrates had been built up by the concentrator and the old pilot-mill. The zinc plant was in operation, but the equipment for drying the residues at the smelter had not been completed. Sherritt-Gordon did not commence their shipments of concentrates until April, 1931. The only flux available was barren sand from a pit ten miles south of Flin Flon, adjacent to the railway. Several small deposits of metal-bearing siliceous ore had been discovered in the district, but none of these were sufficiently large to be considered as a source of smelter flux. At the beginning of March, 1931, the entire stockpile of concentrates had been consumed, and available tonnage for smelting was limited to the daily production of the concentrator.

The nature of processes that take place on top of copper bearing grains during the suppression of copper acid drainage from mine tailings was studied on a grain model. Cyclic voltammetry (C.V.) was employed as an experimental technique suitable for indirect measuring of copper leaching. Experiments were done in sulfuric acid (pH=2) at electrodes that progressively approach the real situation during acid main drainage, starting with Cu-metal, then with CuO and finally with CuO covered with CaSO4. Oxidation was found to be the only process that takes place on metallic copper electrode anodically polarized up to 2 V vs. Cu/CuSO4 reference electrode. Dissolution is intensive and reaches up to 50 mA.cm-2. When the same was repeated, but on CuO electrode, anodic currents were some 4 times lower than on the bare metallic surface. This indicates that the electrode material is not completely oxidized to copper(II)oxide and the Cu(O) or Cu(I) residues are oxidized during the anodic polarization. This explains the diminished dissolution. Dissolution is further restricted at electrodes covered with CaSO4. It is some 20 times lower than on the bare oxide electrode. When the second layer of CaSO4 was applied, anodic currents were another 15 times lower. Total decrease of anodic currents when transition is made from Cu-metal to CuO covered with 2 layers of CaSO4 reaches up to 7.500 times. C.V. measurements produced a proof that mechanical blockage is the way how lime prevents leaching of copper bearing grains in immobilization experiments referred elsewhere.

The nature and distribution of radiation-induced defects (RIDs) in quartz from the Maw Zone, a yttrium- and rare-earth-element-enriched sandstone breccia complex exhibiting intense hydrothermal alteration, have been investigated by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. EPR spectra show that detrital quartz in sandstone, from five diamond drill holes intersecting the Maw Zone and one above the crest of the so-called Quartzite Ridge, contain only background-level RIDs, indicating that Ubearing fluids were absent in this area. However, close to the sandstone-basement unconformity, in hole WR-194 immediately west of the Quartzite Ridge, the concentration of RIDs in detrital quartz is significantly above background but at least an order of magnitude lower than those at the Key Lake and McArthur River deposits. Widespread drusy quartz at the Maw Zone, which signifies intense hydrothermal alteration, is associated with hematite-, sulfide- and carbonate-bearing mineral assemblages, which exhibit complex crosscutting relationships. EPR spectra of drusy quartz in all three types of mineral assemblages are low in RIDs as well, supporting the EPR evidence that fluids at the Maw Zone did not carry significant U. These EPR results suggest that, in spite of intense hydrothermal alteration and favorable structural geology, the Maw Zone is unlikely to host any significant U mineralization. Moreover, this study shows that the EPR technique is potentially a useful exploration tool, capable of determining whether individual alteration zones in the Athabasca Basin were associated with U-bearing fluids or not.

THE story of the efforts made by the Department of Mines of Nova Scotia in the search for and investigation of mineral resources for the Canadian war effort began in the spring of 1937. During the past five years, however, heavy enlistments in the Active Service Forces by employees of the mining industry of the Province caused a recession in the production of coal, salt, and other essential minerals required to keep industry rolling on a wartime basis. A marked increase was shown during the period in prospecting for 'strategic' minerals, not only by individuals but also by some of the foremost mining companies. The Provincial Government offered encouragement in this field of endeavour by the enactment of legislation whereby the prospector was enabled to secure the maximum area of ground in a prospecting license at a minimum of cost. The labour requirements on the ground staked, however, remained unchanged. The Nova Scotia Department of Mines continued active investigation of minerals vital to the war effort. These included fluorspar, barytes, diatomite, limestone, and coal. Fundamental knowledge concerning the geology and mode of occurrence of these minerals was accumulated and extensive diamond drilling was carried out on the promising occurrences. Work in these fields is being continued.

"RÉSUMÉ La lixiviation acide d’un minerai oxydé cupro-cobaltifère en milieu non réducteur et en milieu réducteur en utilisant le Fe2+ et le métabisulfite de sodium (SMBS) a été étudiée et les résultats ont été comparés. Les tests de lixiviation ont été effectués à température ambiante, dans une pulpe à 30 % solide, avec une vitesse d’agitation de 600 tr/min, un potentiel redox de 350 mV pour les tests en milieu réducteur, et un pH de 1,8. Les tests de lixiviation avec usage du SMBS comme réducteur ont donné la meilleure cinétique de lixiviation du cuivre. Pour le cobalt, c’est l’usage du Fe2+ qui a donné la meilleure cinétique de lixiviation. L’augmentation de la dose du fer dans la solution au-delà de 5 g/L a influencé négativement les rendements de lixiviation du cuivre et du cobalt. ABSTRACT Acid leaching of a copper-cobaltiferous oxide ore in a non-reducing environment and in a reducing environment using Fe2+ and sodium metabisulfite (SMBS) was studied and the results compa¬red. The leaching tests were performed at room temperature, in a 30% solids pulp, with a shaking speed of 600 rpm, a redox potential of 350 mV for the tests performed in the reducing environment, and a pH of 1.8. The leaching tests using the SMBS as a reducing agent produced the best copper leaching kinetics. As for cobalt, the best leaching kinetics was achieved using Fe2+. An increase in the amount of iron in the solution above 5 g/L negatively influenced copper and cobalt leaching yields. INTRODUCTION La République Démocratique du Congo (RDC) est un pays reconnu dans le monde pour son sous-sol qui regorge d’énormes quantités de cuivre et de cobalt (USGS, 2014; Palisade Research, 2016). La technique qui semble être la plus recommandée pour extraire à la fois le cuivre et le cobalt des minerais oxydés cupro-cobaltifères est la lixivia-tion acide en milieu réducteur. Cette technique est appliquée par la majorité des sociétés minières qui exploitent ces minerais dans l’ex-province du Katanga en RDC, à savoir: Tenke Fungurume Mining, Mutanda Mining, Kamoto Cop¬per Company, Sicomines, Gécamines, Boss Mining, Chemaf, Ruashi Mining et Somika. L’usage d’un agent réducteur est indispensable pour l’obtention d’un bon rendement de lixiviation du cobalt. En effet, plusieurs chercheurs s’accordent sur le fait que le cobalt trivalent de l’hétérogénite (CoO·2Co2O3·6H2O) est insoluble à l’action de l’acide seul; il ne devient soluble qu’après réduction en cobalt bivalent (Mwema, Mpoyo, & Kafumbila, 2002; Mulaba-Bafubiandi, Ndalamo, & Mamba, 2007; Ferron, 2008; Seo, Choi, Kim, & Tran, 2013; Stuurnam, Ndlovu, & Sibanda, 2014)."

Ferrihydrite is often the initial precipitate resulting from the rapid neutralization of Fe(III) sulphate solutions, and it seems to be a major constituent of zinc plant neutral leach residues. The most important parameters affecting ferrihydrite precipitaton are temperature, solution pH and the neutralization rate. Low temperatures and rapid neutralization rates yield poorly filterable ferrihydrite, whereas higher temperatures and slower neutralization rates produce readily filterable precipitates; in all instances, however, the precipitates are two-line ferrihydrite. Significant amounts of Zn are incorporated in the ferrihydrite precipitates, and the Zn contents increase with increasing Zn concentration, pH or temperature. Generally, the sulphate contents of the precipitates decrease as the Zn contents increase, and this may indicate that the Zn is adsorbed on the ferrihydrite. Discrete Zn phases were not detected. Neither Cd nor Tl is precipitated with ferrihydrite, although thallium jarosite co-precipitates with ferrihydrite at high Tl concentrations and elevated temperatures. Virtually all of the Sn added to the solution precipitates with the ferrihydrite, but the tin is believed to be present as intimately admixed amorphous SnO2.nH2O. Although selenite extensively precipitates with the ferrihydrite, selenate remains mostly in solution, likely because of the close similarity of the SeO4 2- ion to the SO4 2- ion which is present in high concentrations and saturates the available sites for anion adsorption.

During the past 10 years, research work to improve the survey of stope limits after mining supplied useful information, particularly for large open and sub-level stopes, regarding waste dilution caused by differences between final production limits and planned stope limits. However, the efficiency of this information to improve the overall efficiency of the mining process is limited, given that the impacts of inaccurate ore limits leading to dilution (sensu stricto) and ore losses haw not been considered adequately. Geological/sampling information should be optimized in terms of quantity and/or quality for the deposit characteristics and the constraints of the mining method used. As industry practice regarding the definition and recording of dilution is flexible and as ore losses frequently am poorly doc-umented, the use of these terms is reviewed. Simulations were carried out on two typical narrow gold deposits, based on an earlier study at Inco's Thompson mine regarding the impacts of wide to narrow delineation grids using recorded variations of vein geometry. Vertical to sub-vertical deposits of 3 m and 6 m widths mined by long-hole open stopes were considered. Deposits delineated by 7.5 m (25 ft) grids were taken as a base case and the impacts of less accurate limits in conjunction with long hole mining based only on a 15 m (50 ft) delin¬eation grid. The impacts of overestimation (dilution) and underestimation (metal losses) were considered separately, using the average error of +/-0.62 m recorded in the Inco study. The impact of less accurate information was much stronger on the narrower deposit: both dilution and ore losses diminished the net present value of the 3 m wide deposit by 39.27% and 45.41%, respectively, and that of the 6 m wide deposit by 12.84% and 11.55%. As the impacts of ore loss and those of dilution on the net present value am almost identical in these simulations, we could, in practice, assume a 50/50 split between dilution and ore losses in such a case. These results do no take into account the effects of local optimization measures taken at the mine production level (blasthole sampling near stope limits, etc.) The potential impacts of geological and sampling uncertainties in terms of lower NPV justify and require more systematic efforts to ensure that deposit appraisal work and feasibility studies are adequate to optimize company revenue and competitive returns to investors from mine production activities.

ABSTRACT Testing the effects of bubble size (Db) in a Mo cleaning ?otation column at Highland Valley Copper mine indicated that increasing the proportion of small (< 1 mm) bubbles signi?cantly improved column metallurgical response, compared to typical operation. The results were a three- to four-fold Mo recovery increase and a 1 to 2% Mo (absolute) concentrate grade increase. The improvedcolumn operation produced a 4% Mo plant recovery increase. This study also showed that modelling the ?otation rate constant (k) as an inverse square function of Db was more accurate than considering k to be inversely proportional to Db.

"Molybdenum is widely used in the industries as an alloying element in the manufacture of steels and super alloys. The widespread use of the element encourages a growing need to develop extraction processes for recovery from both primary and secondary sources. The Solvay Group has developed a solvent extraction reagent named CYANEX®600 for the recovery of molybdenum from acidic solutions originating from both low grade (e.g. copper solvent extraction raffinates, smelter dusts and slags) and high grade (molybdenite) molybdenum sources. CYANEX®600 is a purified form of CYANEX®272 with the active component bis(2,4,4- trimethylpentyl)phosphinic acid. The extraction behavior of CYANEX®600 towards molybdenum in sulphuric acid medium was evaluated. The uptake of molybdenum increased with the increase in concentration of CYANEX®600. The approximate stoichiometry of the extracted complex was: Mo: CYANEX®600 = 1:2. Efficient back-extraction could be achieved with 0.1 M disodium EDTA and 0.1 M (NH4)2CO3, thus providing the option of recyclability of the extractant. The detailed back-extraction studies are currently under progress to find out the possible option for complete transfer of Mo(VI) to the aqueous phase so that high purity Mo salts could be precipitated from the molybdate solutions.INTRODUCTION Molybdenum (Mo) is one of the world’s valuable metals and is highly sought after by researchers due to its versatile mechanical, thermal, chemical properties. Swedish scientist Carl Wilhelm Scheele demonstrated molybdenite to be a mineral sulfide in 1778. Peter Hjelm successfully isolated dark metal powder from the mineral sulphide and named it as ‘Molybdenum’ in 1782 (Gupta, 1992). Molybdenum is a refractory metal of silver gray appearance and is an important alloying element used in the manufacture of steels and super alloys. Molybdenum compounds are widely used in formulation of catalysts (Gupta, 1992). Molybdenum occurs in nature only in chemical combination with other elements. Several molybdenum bearing minerals have been identified, but the only one of commercial significance is molybdenite (MoS2). As molybdenum is a strategic metal for the industrial sector, its widespread use acts as a factor for depletion of the natural resources. Hence, there is growing need to develop extraction procedures for its recovery from both primary and secondary sources. Magnesium, the lightest structural metal, has not yet been considered as a serious contestant for automotive use due to its weaknesses in corrosion. Electroless nickel-boron alloys are well known for their corrosion resistance and hardness. An electroless nickel-boron layer was successfully deposited first on the chemical conversion pre-treated AZ31 alloy and also on the Ni-P coating which was deposited on the conversion coating. The electroless bath contained nickel sulphate and dimethylamine borane (DMAB) as main salts and the samples were activated by a 5 g/L AgNO3 solution before the electroless plating process. The presence of the conversion coating between the nickel coating and the AZ31 substrate acted as a barrier and prevented corrosion of the alloy. The morphology of the nickel-boron layer was studied using SEM. The crystal structure and the composition were examined by EDS and the hardness was measured. The corrosion behaviour of the nickel-boron layer deposited on the conversion coating and on the Ni-P coating was studied using potentiodynamic polarization in a 0.5M NaC1 solution. A saturated standard calomel electrode was used as a reference electrode. The results show that the nickel-boron coatings had a significantly better corrosion resistance than the AZ31.

The rock mass classification system, BQ (basic quality), is the only national system that is suitable to most kinds of rock engineering in China. It uses two main aspects of the rock mass, the intact uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) and the rock intactness index (KV), to obtain the rock mass BQ. The index KV could be measured by the acoustic wave method. However, because this method is an indirect approach to characterize the rock mass structure, misfits often occur between the test results and the actual rock mass characteristics. Therefore, a new parameter KGSI expressed by the geological strength index is proposed to replace the original KV, and a new method is presented to express the value of BQ as a function of the UCS and the KGSI. Then, the underground excavations at five hydropower stations were chosen as examples to study the relationship between the revised BQ and the each of the international systems (RMR, Q or RMi). In addition, the applicability of the RMR, Q, or RMi system is discussed for China?s rock characteristics and geological conditions, and suggestions are given for improving the revised BQ system.

F OR many years, only one grade of structural steel has been used in volume in Canada. Its characteristics have not been altered appreciably and its long use speaks well for its performance. This standard grade of structural steel may be bought and specified as C.S.A. G40.4 steel or the American equivalent, A.S.T.M. A7. The principal limitations and requirements of this specification are shown in Table I. Within the last five years there has been a growing awareness among the steel producers and steel fabricators that economic forces are at work which make desirable the availability of new and better grades of structural steel. Competition from other materials has increased. The use of concrete bridges and pre-stressed concrete beams is a prime example. New sources of steel from outside the country have become a threat to the Canadian industry and its high cost-price structure. THE Granby Consolidated Mining, Smelting and Power Company, Limited, is engaged in the mining and concentrating of copper ores, and, incidentally, in the mining of coal and the production of electric power. The Company has been engaged in these various operations both on the mainland of British Columbia and on Vancouver island for the past forty-five years. This paper will attempt to cover their present operations in the Similkameen mining district of southern interior British Columbia. GENERAL CHARACTER OF THE DISTRICT The Interior Plateau in southern British Columbia ranges in elevation from 3,000 feet to 6,000 feet. In the vicinity of Princet0n, a depression in the Plateau forms a well defined basin which is floored with a series of nearly flat-lying Tertiary sediments containing some workable seams of lignite. From this basin, the upland surface rises gradually t0ward the south, from an elevation of 2,000 feet at Princet0n to 4,000 feet at Copper mountain, and 6,000 feet in the upper parts of the Similkameen basin, where it merges into the rugged and diversified t0pography of the Cascade system, with glacier inhabited peaks rising to over 9,000 feet. The valleys of Similkameen river and its tributaries are wide, having flaring sides and gentle slopes, and are separated one from another by subdued rounded spurs, of which Copper mountain is typical. The drainage of this district is taken care of by Similkameen river and its larger tributaries, such as Pasayten river, and Wolfe, Friday, and Whipsaw creeks. The name Copper mountain is applied to a gently arched, nearly flat-topped spur between the deep valley of Similkameen river to the west and the shallower valley of Wolfe creek tO the east. The mountain is appro-priately named from the number of copper deposits occurring on its sides and summit, some of which have been developed int0 an important producer, known as the Copper Mountain mine.

"IntroductionThe Maurice Bay deposit is one of a number of uranium deposits that have been found in recent years in the Athabasca Basin of northern Saskatchewan (Tremblay, 1982). This deposit, along with the others, belongs to the unconformity type deposits (Beck, 1977). They are, for the most part, polymetallic, being characterized by a suite of metals which include U, Ni, Co, Cu, Pb, Zn, Mn, V, Ag, Au, Pt-group elements, S, As, Bi, Se, Te, and Mo, some of which, besides U, are present in economic concentrations (Amok, 1974; Ruzicka, 1975; Tapaninen, 1976; Hoeve and Sibbald, 1978; Dahlkamp, 1978). The Maurice Bay deposit was known to be a small low grade deposit in which the ore was essentially monomineralic, consisting mainly of pitchblende (Harper, 1978). However, the occurrence of trace amounts of some of the elements common in the larger polymetallic ore bodies (e.g. Key Lake, Cluff Lake D) was anticipated. Thus a lithogeochemical sampling project was undertaken in 1979 across part of the Maurice Bay deposit (Harper, 1979). Major oxides (SiO2, Al2O3, FeO, Fe2O, MgO, CaO, K2O, Na2O, MnO, P2O5, and TiO2) and a group of the most common trace metals (U, Ni, Co, Cu, Pb, As, Au, V, and Se) were analyzed to determine whether any elemental patterns (halos or depletions) could be detected which would reduce the number of pathfinder elements needed for exploration purposes. In addition to the above metals, Th was also checked because some conglomerate strata in the Maurice Bay area are known to be thorium-enriched (Harper, 1978). Only the trace metal distributions will be discussed in detail in this report.General GeologyThe Maurice Bay area is underlain by three major groups of rocks, the White Lake metamorphic complex, an unnamed granodiorite complex, and the Athabasca Group, described previously (Fig. 1; Harper, 1979). Table 1 summarizes the stratigraphic features as deduced by geological mapping and the examination of drill cores."

"CONSTRUCI'ION OF SHERRITT'S CONCENTRATORSSherritt Gordon is operating two mills north of the 56th parallel, and is presently engaged in building a third. The author was closely involved in the design and construction of all three of these concentrators.The Lynn mill is the oldest of these three concentrators-it is a 4,000 ton per day nickel-copper plant built in 1953. The Fox mill is a 3,000 ton per day copper-zinc concentrator built in 1970. The Ruttan mill will be a 10,000 ton per day copper-zinc plant scheduled to go on line in July 1973.LYNN MILL The Lynn mill including the crushing, concentrating, drying and load out plant is about 69,700 square feet or 17.4 square feet per ton per day. '!his plant was originally built in 1927 at Sherridon, 150 miles south of Lynn Lake, as a 2,000 ton per day copper-zinc plant. In 1952 the plant was moved by tractor train to Lynn Lake. The whole plant was re-oriented within the original perimeter walls as a 2,000 ton per day nickel-copper plant. This plant was expanded to 4,000 tons per day by the addition of t1-Jo rod mills and a 5-1/2 short head crusher in 1959.The Sherridon mill processed its last ore in Sherridon in September 1951 and the first load of nickel concentrate was loaded at Lynn Lake on November 9, 1953 when the railroad arrived at Lynn Lake.The site for the Lynn Lake mill was cleared of overburden in the summer of 1952 and foundations for structural steel and SO!l8 equipment foundations were poured the late summer and fall of 1952 • Steel was erected from January to June 1953. Most of the equipment came in from January to March of 1953 by tractor sleighs. Sane sleighs upset but no equipment was lest through the ice."
