Shebandowan Mine presents a unique opportunity for the mining industry to demonstrate its willingness and ability to use electrical energy effectively. The mine is a typical 250D-ton/day operation supplied by a i5-MVA power transformer. it is a recent, up-to-date design and operates on a four-day/week, two-shift/day basis. The paper outlines an energy profile based on historical data. It accurately describes the individual and total energy input For: (1) production and non-productive junctions; (2) production and down-time periods; (3) peak and average activity levels; and (4) principal energy utilization equipment. A comparison is then made of production data to electrical data, and production and electrical data to design data. The paper concludes that energy management has an important benefit for the mining industry by assisting in maintaining a competitive operation through reduced costs and fewer production slow-downs in the event of energy shortages.

The final mechanical properties of wrought magnesium alloys are mostly controlled by microstructure and crystallographic orientation or texture. In common magnesium alloys, grain coarsening occurs during annealing process and formation of undesirable basal texture cannot be changed markedly. The aim of this work is to investigate the effect of static precipitation on microstructure and texture evolution during annealing at 250 °C after warm rolling of Mg-Al-Sn alloy. Mg-3Al-3Sn (wt. %) alloy has been designed using thermodynamic modeling software, FactSageTM, based on forming target stable and incoherent Mg2Sn precipitate within the industrial deformation temperature range. Microstructures and precipitation were investigated by optical and scanning electron microscopes and macro-texture was measured by X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. It was found that static precipitates form in a large scale at the recrystallized grain boundaries and retards the grain growth during annealing. Slight weakening in basal texture was also observed during annealing.

North American Palladium is the owner/operator of the Lac des Iles mine located 115 km north of Thunder Bay, Ontario. The mine has produced an average of 65,000 ounces of palladium since 1994. Lac des Iles is currently undergoing the first phase of a major expansion that will increase ore production from 2,400 tons per day to 15,000 tons per day. A future expansion is being contemplated for 30,000 tons per day. The current expansion will increase palladium output to 250,000 ounces per year. The mine plan for the ultimate pit results in an excavation 1 km long by 800 m wide and over 450 m deep. This makes the ultimate pit at Lac des Iles one of the ten deepest open pits in the world, and the largest in Canada. This paper outlines the geotechnical data collection and design methodology for the ultimate open pit at Lac des Iles.

Trend surface analysis was used to investigate the geochemical dispersion patterns of Si, Ai, Fe, Mg, Ca, Na, K, Ti and Rb in the footwall of the Seneca massive sulphide prospect in southwestern British Columbia. Surfaces for various element ratios were also produced to see if the distributions of the elements are related to each other. Trends developed by the elements redistributed during hydrothermal alteration may be difficult to detect for various reasons, such as too few and widely separated sample points, random analytical errors or local variations in rock chemical composition that are not related to regional trends. Trend surface analysis is useful to distinguish regional trends from local fluctuations. The computer program used in this study is capable of calculating surfaces up to the 6th degree polynomial, but provides for automatic termination when the variables in the equation for successive surfaces become effectively collinear. With the relatively small number of data points used (21 samples) in this study, such termination occurred after the quadratic surface. Results show that, at the Seneca prospect, Mg and K increase, and Na and Ca decrease, toward a common centre which corresponds closely with the best drill-core intersections of ore. The centre is interpreted as a volcanic vent and as the source of mineralization . Quadratic surfaces for element ratios show that K/Ca decreases and Fe/Mg increases away from this vent. Thin-section and X-ray diffraction analyses indicate that these variations reflect sericitization of plagioclase and an increase in the Mg content of chlorite near the vent. The mineralization , rock types and element dispersion patterns at the Seneca prospect are similar to those reported for volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits at Bathurst, New Brunswick, and in the Hokuroko district of Japan.

"Proterozoic plutonic and volcanic rocks in the Franklin Mountains, west Texas, exhibit similar values in average concentrations of equivalent uranium (eU), equivalent thorium (eTh) and equivalent potassium (eK) when compared to Proterozoic igneous rocks of the southwestern United States. Variations of radioelement concentrations for all Proterozoic igneous rocks of the Franklin Mountains range from 1.1 to 357.1 ppm U, 2.1to 259.1 ppm Th and 2.5 to 10.2% K.Recent geologic mapping of the Proterozoic rocks in the Franklin Mountains revealed several types of granites previously unrecognized, and these warrant further exploration for U and Th resources. Fluorite-bearing granites and riebeckite pegmatites are likely targets for further investigation, as these have the highest U and Th concentrations compared to all other granites.IntroductionThis is a summary of the paper presented at the CIM Geology Division Uranium Symposium held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, September 8-13, 1981. "DEFINITION OF THE REGION AND ITS BOUNDARIESTHE EXPOSED PART OF THE GRENVILLE PROVINCE is the southeastern part of the Canadian Shield, characterized by crystalline rocks with K-Ar ages of about 1,000 million years. Its Canadian portion is bounded on the southwest by Georgian Bay •and by Paleozoic sediments south of a line passing through Orillia and Kingston, on the southeast by the St. Lawrence River valley and the north shore of the Gulf of the St. Lawrence, on the east by the coast of Labrador and on the northwest by the Grenville front, a linear tec-tonic feature that is a metamorphic transition zone and/or a fault. Rocks located to the southeast of the front have younger K-Ar radiom€tric ages than rocks located to the northwest of it.The region is formed of complexly deformed and highly metamorphosed crystalline rocks and in part differs from other areas of the Canadian Shield by the presence of large amounts of crystalline limestone and bodies of anorthosite."

"Abstract - Rare-element pegmatites may host several economic commodities, such as tantalum (Taoxide minerals), tin (cassiterite), lithium (ceramic-grade spodumene and petalite), and cesium (pollucite). Key geological features that are common to pegmatites in the Superior province of Ontario and Manitoba, Canada, and in other large tantalum deposits worldwide, can be used in exploration.An exploration project for rare-element pegmatites should begin with an examination of a regional geology map. Rare-element pegmatites occur along large regional-scale faults in greenschist and amphibolite facies metamorphic terranes. They are typically hosted by mafic metavolcanic or metasedimentary rocks, and are located near peraluminous granite plutons (A/CNK > 1.0). Once a peraluminous granite pluton has been identified, then the next step is to determine if the pluton is barren or fertile. Fertile granites have elevated rare element contents, Mg/Li ratio < 10, and Nb/Ta ratio < 8. They commonly contain blocky K-feldspar and green muscovite. Key fractionation indicators can be plotted on a map of the fertile granite pluton to determine the fractionation direction: presence of tourmaline, beryl, and ferrocolumbite; Mn content in garnet; Rb content in bulk K-feldspar; and Mg/Li and Nb/Ta ratios in bulk granite samples. Pegmatite dikes with the most economic potential for Li-Cs-Ta deposits occur the greatest distance (up to 10 km) from the parent granite.Metasomatized host rocks are an indication of a nearby rare-element pegmatite. Metasomatic aureoles can be identified by their geochemistry: elevated Li, Rb, Cs, B, and F contents; and by their mineralogy: presence of tourmaline, (Rb, Cs)-enriched biotite, holmquistite, muscovite, and rarely garnet.Once a pegmatite dike has been located, the next step is to assess its potential to contain Ta mineralization. Pegmatites with the highest degree of fractionation (and thus the most economic potential for Li-Cs-Ta) contain blocky K-feldspar with >3,000 ppm Rb, K/Rb < 30, and >100 ppm Cs; and coarsegrained green muscovite with >2,000 ppm Li, >10,000 ppm Rb, >500 ppm Cs, and >65 ppm Ta. Pegmatites with Ta mineralization usually contain Li-rich minerals (e.g., spodumene, petalite, lepidolite, elbaite, amblygonite, and lithiophilite) and may contain Cs-rich minerals (e.g., pollucite, Cs-rich beryl). The ore minerals of Ta are commonly manganotantalite, manganocolumbite, wodginite, and microlite; Ta-rich cassiterite is also commonly present. Tantalum mineralization tends to occur in albitic aplite, mica-rich (lepidolite, cleavelandite ± lepidolite), and spodumene/petalite pegmatite zones."

"Al–Si–Cu–Mg die casting alloys are widely used in the automotive industry, and recent advancements in high pressure die casting technology enable heat treating products to achieve desirable properties. However, CO2emissions associated with die-casting production lines should be reduced to address the global warming issue. In this study, the relation between the microstructures and thermal stability of precipitates formed during isothermal aging at 423, 485, and 558 K of Al-11.0 mass%Si-1.8 mass%Cu-0.2 mass% Mg (JIS ADC12) was investigated using Vickers hardness tests and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The hardness tests and TEM results showed that Si compounds and Al–Cu compounds enhanced the mechanical properties of the alloy and that the predominant compound affecting the mechanical properties differed between specimens treated at 423 K and those treated at 558 K. Moreover, additional aging at 423–458 K resulted in a material with a Vickers hardness higher than that of the isothermally single-aged material. Differential scanning calorimetry, differential elemental analysis, and selected-area diffraction analysis using TEM suggested that the combination of Al–Cu compounds precipitated at low aging temperatures and Si compounds precipitated during preliminary aging increased the mechanical strength, resulting in a maximum hardness of 130 HV.INTRODUCTIONAl–Si–Cu–Mg die casting alloys have well-balanced mechanical properties, machinability, and cast ability. These alloys are therefore widely used in the automotive industry because of their superior characteristics, accounting for>90% of the aluminum used in die casting production. As a substitute for iron-based materials, these alloys have contributed to the development of lightweight vehicles.Dong et al. (2014) reported that the heat treatment of die casting materials is effective for changing their dimensions under high temperatures as a result of the precipitation of solid-solution elements. Recent advancements in high pressure die casting technology have led to the application of heat treatments of Al–Si–Cu–Mg alloy products to reduce fuel consumption and satisfy customer needs. Although attempts to reduce CO2emissions have focused on fuel consumption in cars and fuel efficiency regulations have become increasingly strict in recent years, CO2discharged from production lines should also be reduced without adversely affecting the properties of the product. Heat treatments for artificial aging after solution treatment (T6 treatment) and after casting (T5 treatment) are CO2discharge sources, which together with a holding furnace account for >80 % of the CO2discharged during the casting process."

"Potash flotation is an industrially proven success of flotation of soluble salts, but its collector adsorption mechanism remains elusive. In this paper, specific ion effects in NaCl-KCl flotation with carboxylate collectors were investigated. Flotation recovery and contact angle were determined as a function of brine composition of NaCl and KCl. The experimental results have shown that wettability of KCl and flotation of the soluble salts with laurate collectors were dependent on brine ion composition. Specifically, adding Na+ to brines decreased hydrophobicity of KCl crystals and their flotation recovery. Both KCl and NaCl could be floated with laurate collectors. However, flotation of NaCl was greatly enhanced by adding K+ to brine whereas flotation of KCl was significantly suppressed by the presence of Na ions. The decrease in KCl recovery upon adding Na+ is attributed to the counter-ion binding in the pulp. The flotation recovery enhancement of NaCl in the presence of K+ is explained by two effects: 1) increasing K+ concentration leads to a better dispersion of collector colloids in the pulp and 2) K+ enhances the collector adsorption at NaCl crystal surfaces. The water affinity matching rule can explain the specific ion binding behaviors and supported by the SFG spectroscopic results.INTRODUCTIONPotassium is an important fertilizer. Its primary source comes from potash ores, which are a mixture of sylvite (KCl), halite (NaCl) and many other complex double salts such as carnallite (KCl·MgCl·6H2O), alkali nitrates such as KNO3 and NaNO3, and sulfates-langbeinite (2MgSO4·K2SO4) with water-insoluble minerals such as clay and carbonate minerals. Previously, these salts were recovered with a lengthy hot leaching method, with further crystallization of potassium salts from saturated saline solutions. Selective flotation has been preferred since 1940s. Various collector adsorption mechanisms have been proposed soon after the industrial introduction of potash flotation. These include the formation of the insoluble compound model (Halbich, 1933; Singewald, 1961), an ion exchange model (Fuerstenau and Fuerstenau, 1956), a heat of solution model (Rogers, 1957), the surface hydration model (Schubert, 1988), the surface charge model (Roman, 1966; Miller et al., 1992), the interfacial water structure model (Hancer and Miller, 2000) and the colloid adsorption model (Leja, 1983; Burdukova and Laskowski, 2009). Most of the early exercises attempting to propose a unified rule on collector adsorption mechanisms can be seen as heroic endeavors due to the consideration of a vast number of salts in the pulp including alkali halides, nitrates, and sulfates, even the practically insoluble heavy earth metals. Additionally, several types of surfactants with different polarization features and alkyl chain length have been employed. As for the recent models, due probably to the preferential application of long chain amines as collectors in industrial potash flotation, most researchers are only devoted to collectors with low polarization features like amines and sulfonates (Hancer and Miller, 2000; Du et al., 2014). Collector adsorption mechanisms are therefore proposed based largely on a neglect of carboxylates as collectors. However, carboxylates remain an important collector type in soluble salt flotation systems where both salt minerals can be floated using anionic collectors and cationic collectors. Fatty acid type collectors are still one of the widely used collectors for soluble salt flotation and also one of the first to be applied on an industrial scale for the separation of potash ore (Hernáinz et al., 2003; Titkov, 2004). Here we examine some recent models that are relevant to our study to reveal a long neglected specific ion binding effects in potash flotation."

A comprehensive mathematical model of the Sherritt-Gordon ammoniacal pressure leaching process at K winana Nickel Refinery has been constructed. The process is comprised of six autoclaves functioning as a three-stage leach circuit, operating over the temperature and pressure ranges of 85-95°C and 750-1000 kPa, respectively. The process chemistry forms a complex series-parallel reaction network, characterised by: (1) the gas-liquid mass transfer and reduction of oxygen, (2) the oxidation of eight distinct minerals, (3) the oxidation of sulphur, and successive reactions involving various intermediately oxidised sulphur species, and (4) the oxidation of Fe(II) to Fe(III), and subsequent precipitation as a hydrated ferric oxide. Material balances were developed for species in all three phases, and an energy balance to account for all reactions and phase conversions. The multiple convolution integral (MCI) statistical reactor model was employed for the scale-up of particle kinetics. The model has been validated against plant data, and simulation results are in agreement with plant performance.

Oxygen requirement during acidic pressure oxidation of sulphide concentrates can he as high as 800 kg/(m3.h) in the first compartment of an autoclave when the total oxidation residence time is shortened to 30 minutes. To achieve such a high oxygen transfer rate while maintaining satisfactory oxygen utilization, a pilot plant campaign was launched at the Placer Dome Research Centre in 1998 to measure the oxygen mass transfer coefficient in a 5 m3 pressure vessel at a total pressure close to 500 psig with a 30 HP gassing agitator. Maximum oxygen flowrate to the pressure vessel was designed at 3 600 kg/h. In this paper, a great deal of information is provided on the gassing agitator, pressure vessel. measurement procedure and results. Without oxygen sparging, the oxygen mass transfer coefficient is 2 600 h-1 with a mixing power input of 5.0 kW/m3 in solution. With oxygen sparging, the oxygen mass transfer coefficient increases to 3 500 h-1 with a mixing power input of 4.0 kW/m3 in solution.

A Sievert &apos; technique was used. The few determinations made on 10 per cent and 20 per cent V alloys did not show any deviations from Sieverts&apos; law up to I>N2 = 1 atmosphere. The same held true for alloys of 0.2 per cent Ti. Nitrogen absorptions in Fe-Ti alloys, containing from 0.50 to 0.77 per cent Ti at 1,600°C, follow Sieverts&apos; law at low PN2 values, but, due to the formation of a delta titanium nitride phase, deviate from this law beyond critical values of PN2? There is evidence that this phase is Ti1.1N. "The paper is part of our study of the frother structure-property relationship using bubble rise velocity. Single bubble rise velocity profiles were determined in a 350 cm column for surfactants from the polypropylene glycol (PPG) family. Using velocity at 300 cm, the concentration to reach minimum velocity (CMV) is determined. The CMV is shown to decrease as alkyl chain length (n, number of carbons) increases and as the number of propylene oxide groups (m) increases. Linear correlations log CMV vs. n and m were observed. Taking literature data for critical coalescence concentration (CCC), linear log CMV vs. log CCC correlations were also noted. Mechanisms are briefly discussed, and prediction of CCC made for a commercial polypropylene glycol.INTRODUCTIONAs one of the great enabling technologies of the 20th century, froth flotation is a highly versatile method for physically separating minerals by exploiting differences in wettability (hydrophobicity). Over the last century, flotation reagents have undergone significant developments (Khoshdast and Sam, 2011). One important group of reagents is frothers which are used to reduce bubble size, slow bubble rise velocity and help stabilize froth (Klimpel and Isherwood, 1991).Frothers, originally derived from natural sources (e.g., pine oil and cresylic acid), are largely replaced today by synthetic products which provide more consistent properties. Polyglycols, based on PEO (polyethylene oxide), PPO (polypropylene oxide), or PBO (polybutylene oxide) groups, were first described by Leja and Nixon (1957) and have attracted wide use since then (Farrokhpay 2011). The chemical structure of polyglycols can be represented by a general formula: R(X)mOH, where R = H, or CnH2n+1 and X stands for EO (-C2H4O-), PO (-C3H6O-), or BO (-C4H8O-). The polypropylene glycol ethers (CnH2n+1(PO)mOH) are the most common of these reagents (Pugh, 2007) and the focus of this study.In general, the chemical structure of frother molecules comprises two parts, a non-polar hydrophobic hydrocarbon (alkyl: CnH2n+1) chain and a polar hydrophilic head. By introducing the ether -Olinkage, which acts as another polar site, the propoxy group (-OC3H6-) in the structure makes the frother readily soluble in water (Somasundaran and Wang, 2006), facilitating the industrial use of these frothers. Available as by-products, Dow Chemicals introduced as series of polyglycols, e.g., Dowfroth (DF) 200, 250, 263, and 1012, the most familiar being DF250 (CH3(PO)4OH), a polypropylene glycol methyl ether. While no longer available from Dow, these and other polyglycols are still widely used."

Magnesium alloys have the lowest density among the metals in practical use, and have properties such high specific strength, electromagnetic interference shielding and good vibration damping. Thus, there are many applications of these materials in automotive and electric parts. However, there is a little use of the products of metal forming of these materials because of poor plastic deformability in the normal temperature range and their high cost of production. To expand the range of application of products manufactured by metal forming, rolling technology for producing thin sheets having good mechanical and surface qualities is required. In this study, hot-rolled Mg-alloy sheets are experimentally rolled with or without lubrication in the temperature range from 293 K to 523 K. Rolling force, plastic deformability and surface quality are investigated, and the grain structures and their uniformity are observed. The effect of friction between the roll and the deforming material on the uniformity of the grain structure is discussed. Moreover, rolled materials are annealed and their mechanical properties are investigated by the tensile test and compared with those of as-rolled materials. The effects of the rolling conditions on the mechanical properties are discussed.

Technical procedures and designs are illustrated.IntroductionThe development of high-performance heat-shrinkable materials slightly over 20 years ago proved to be one of the major technological breakthroughs in power cable accessories. Heat-shrinkable products were introduced initially for use as low-volt age cable accessories in the aircraft and electronics industry. A program of continuous development and product introduction now enables the manufacturer to offer a broad range of products for mining, industrial and utility electrical systems.With the advent of atomic energy, an important discovery was made-exposure of some plastic materials to high-energy electrons can cause the permanent crosslinking, or intermolecular joining, of adjacent molecules. Once the material has been crosslinked, it will not melt or flow at any temperature.The unique properties of heat-shrinkable products also result from the exposure of special thermoplastic formulations to high-energy electrons. Because of crosslinking, these products have perfect elastic memory. The heat-shrinkable products are supplied in expanded condition. When heated, they will shrink and tightly cover the object over which they have been placed. &apos;The functional and operating demands of mine cable accessories exceeded the classic electronic applications of heat shrinkable materials. These demands required a very sophisticated program to develop materials and adhesive systems that could endure the operational environment associated with the mining industry,Ease of assembly, low installed cost and operational reliability are among the main reasons for the acceptance of heat-shrinkable mine cable accessories in electrically powered mines. "A novel carbonaceous adsorbent for recovery of nickel from nickel plating waste solution was prepared from rice straw using sulfur impregnation. The rice straws were cut to 1 cm pieces, and then immersed in 0.01 - 3 M K2S solution to prepare sulfur-immersed materials. The immersed-materials were heated at 100-700 ºC in nitrogen gas to produce the sulfur-impregnated carbonaceous adsorbent by pyrolysis. The contents of carbon and sulfur in the adsorbent and abilities of adsorbent to recovery nickel from aqueous solution were examined. The contents of carbon and sulfur in sulfur-immersed materials are almost same as those in raw material. In pyrolysis, with increasing the heating temperature to 200 ºC, the contents of carbon and sulfur are almost constant, and then above 300 ºC those increase. The recovery for nickel using raw material, sulfur-immersed material and the product pyrolyzed at 100 - 200 ºC are almost same, and with increasing the heating temperature to 400 ºC, that of the product increases, and above 500 ºC that of the product decreases. In immerse step, with increasing K2S concentration, the carbon content of the product at 400 ºC gradually decreases, the sulfur content of the product increases, and the recovery for nickel using the product gradually increases and then above 1 M K2S decrease. The product prepared from material immersed in 1 M K2S solution at 400 ºC indicates a maximum recovery for nickel ion. The product can adsorb nickel ion in nickel plating waste solution coexisting with phosphate ion, and adsorbed nickel ion in the product was deposited as nickel metal after heating at 1000 ºC under N2 atmosphere.INTRODUCTIONRice is the second world’s largest cereal crop after wheat, but produces large amount of straw residues, of about 330 million metric tonnes. Rice is a widely grown crop in Asia, and rice straw is produced as a by-product of rice production. In most parts of rice fields, open-field burning of rice straw is commonly practiced in the region when there is limited time to prepare a field for the next crop. However, open-field burning of crop residues is an uncontrolled combustion process during which air pollutants are emitted into atmosphere. These air pollutants have significant toxicological properties and are potential carcinogens (Gadede et al., 2009). Although wildfires are prohibited in cultivation fields of most countries, farmers usually keep on burning their crop by-products. Biomass burning is an important source of aerosol particles which may affect local and regional air quality (Gao et al., 2011), and also contribute to global climate changes."

"Geographic information systems (GIS) provide an efficient means for the recording, manipulation, revision, display and analysis of spatially referenced data. GIS are widely used at the exploration stage of mine development, and are increasingly used for reclamation planning. The ability of a GIS to perform spatial searches and query spatially referenced data make it a powerful tool for use at all stages of mine development. As the amount of data available for analysis increases, so does the power and flexibility of GIS as a planning tool.Starting from the exploration database, this paper describes how a GIS can be used for the development of mining plans based on topography, geology and mineralization information stored in a relational database. Planning decisions approaching the optimal can then be made for a wide range of parameters, including stockpile and waste dump locations, the location of potentially acid generating and neutralizing material for dump design, profitable and risk-controlled mine extraction sequencing, and haul road locations. This is made possible by the overlay and buffer analysis capabilities of a GIS which are explored and exploited to produce a continuous mine production planning program, as well as site remediation and reclamation using a successful case study. The Ore and ProductsThe mines in the Saskatoon area — Agrium, PCS-Cory, PCS-Allan, PCS-Patience Lake, PCS-Lanigan and IMC-Colonsay — extract the ore from the Patience Lake member. The mines in the southeast corner of Saskatchewan — IMC-K1 and K2, PCSRocanville — extract from the Esterhazy member, while IMC-Belle Plaine, near Regina, solution mines potassium chloride from both potash-bearing members.Ore from the Patience Lake member is a medium-grained mixture of sylvite and halite, with a KCl content of 36%, insolubles averaging up to 5.5%, and little or no carnallite.The ore from the Esterhazy member is a coarse-grained mixture of sylvite (KCl) and halite (NaCl) with a small amount of water insolubles, and some carnallite (a K-Mg chloride). Average run-of-mine grades are about 30% KCl."

The extraction of nickel from Serbian and Western Australian lateritic ore by sulphuric pressure acid leaching (PAL) has been studied. The following parameters were tested: stirring rate, acid to ore ratio, reaction time, pressure and temperature. These studies were performed with ore samples from the Rudjinci, Serbia and Silcrete, Australia, both belonging to the laterite-silicate group of deposits. An increase of the reaction temperature and the stirring speed at a fixed acid/ore ratio showed a positive influence on nickel extraction. The decrease of the oxidation potential with time correlated with the increase in Fe(II) in solution and nickel extraction as the reaction went to completion for both ores. The target values of 95 % Ni extraction and 60 % Co extraction were attained in 5 min at 250°C for the Serbian silicate ore, at an agitation rate of 1500 rpm, 10 % solids, and acid/ore ratio of 0.40. Under similar conditions only 60 % Ni, but 69 % Co could be extracted from the Australian Silcrcte ore due to different mineralogy. The nickel extraction was shown follow a diffusion-controlled reaction model.
