Abstract
COPPER is the world's most important non-ferrous metal, and brass is the most widely used non- ferrous alloy. Much of the utility of each may be credited to the work of metallurgists who have constantly improved the quality of the metals and alloys and the methods of fabrication. Standing in the front rank among these is William Hastings Bassett, the newly elected president of the Institute.
