Abstract
"The requirements for effective optimization of a mineral dressing operation are discussed, with specific reference to a flotation system . Also considered are the relation-ships between automatic control and optimization pro-grams. Variables are classified into the following groups, and the significance of the classification is discussed: (a) Directly measurable (b) Directly manipulable (c) Uncontrollable (d) Calculable from measurable variables (e) Affected by changes in manipulable or uncontrol-lable variables. New sensors for measuring variables not normally measured are described."
