Abstract
The flotation plant tailings at Kamoa Copper Mine concentrator were found to contain a
high proportion of extremely fine particles. The potential issues with settling these fine
solids were resolved by the use of a poly-di-allyl-di-methyl ammonium chloride
(DADMAC) coagulant, Flobead DB 45 VHM, in conjunction with a standard anionic
polyacrylamide flocculant. This paper outlines some of the issues encountered and how
they were resolved at the Kamoa concentrator. The potential to use this process and
technology at other sites is also considered
