Employment near 400,000 ! 4% of GDP The Kyoto Protocol ! November 18, 2004 -- Russia deposited its instrument of ratification with the United Nations ! The Kyoto Protocol entered into force on February 16, 2005 ! The Kyoto Protocol is now an international and legally binding agreement to reduce GHG emissions world wide ! Canadian GHG target = 6 percent below 1990 ! First Commitment period 2008-2012
