Abstract

The motivation for, the structure of, and the overall features of a block release Graduate Diploma program designed for practising minerals engineers are outlined. It is demonstrated that because of the very specific subjects taught, the course has the potential to effect significant improvements in operating plant performance. Through lifting the skill level of the participants and therefore advancing their career prospects, the course can raise staff morale and improve plant performance and productivity in their work place.
