THE manufacture of anhydrous sodium sulphate or salt cake from natural deposits in the United States has been in general somewhat of a marginal undertaking. Competition from foreign sources and from large quantities of byproduct sodium sulphate produced domestically in the manufacture of hydro-chloric acid and other chemicals has existed and continues.
