Abstract

The introduction of a new explosive component in 1955-56, called ANFO, featured much safer, effective blasting characteristics when compared to dynamite, accompanied by a notable reduction in cost. These savings mounted as borehole diameter or depth was increased with ANFO volume subsequently enlarged.
