Abstract
This exploratory survey was undertaken to repeat some experiments- in which anomalous results were reported1 for bismuth and to measure the thermoelectric power of some bismuth alloys and inter-metallic compounds. sato1 reported that the thermoelectric power of bismuth depends on the temperature gradient. This seems rather unreasonable especially when the Benedicks effect' has not been detected. Even if the material is not homogeneous, the observed thermoelectric power can be represented by
