Critical factors of selection, fabrication, installation, and splicing of prestressed concrete piles are discussed based on experiences with coastal subsurface conditions of the United States of America (USA), and the People's Republic of China (PRC). Segmented Prestressed Concrete piles are economical when compared with other pile types of comparable capacity. However, strict quality control measures are required.
