Abstract

At the Second Pan-American Scientific Congress, meeting in Washington, D. C., from Dec. 27, 1915 to Jan. 8, 1916, the following special topics will be discussed in each of the four sub-sections of Section VII, of which Hennen Jennings is Chairman: A. Mining.-The mining law of each country and the changes that may be made to aid the development of mineral resources. History of the mining industry in each country with reference to the beginnings of that industry. The development of the Patio process. Bibliography of mining. B. Metallurgy.-Present methods of concentrating ores and the development of concentration methods. International relations in the exchange of ores and metals. Bibliography of metallurgy. A. and B. Mining and Metallurgy.-Development of hydro-electric power for mining and metallurgy, the amount probably available, and specific benefits from its utilization.
