[The discovery of many oil fields in Illinois since 1936, and their rapid development have brought the problem of brine disposal to the foreground in that State. The ultimate magnitude of the problem is not yet known, but already it is treat enough to warrant technical investigation. The Bureau of Mines, therefore, has made a general survey of the methods of handling oil-field b brines in Illinois rend has studied in detail three subsurface disposal systems.]
