Abstract

The recommendations of the Bureau of Mines on rock-dusting practices are embodied, except in a few details, in the Recommended American Practice for Rock-Dusting Coal Mines to Prevent Coal-Dust Explosions,5 approved by the. American Engineering Standards Committee,6 December 30, 1925 It is specified that the dust to be used is of a size that all will pass through a sieve having 20 meshes per linear inch and that 50 per cent or more will pass through a sieve having 200 meshes per linear inch.
