[This paper is the fifth 4/ of a series of publications on smelting in the load blast furnace. The objects of this investigation are to determine the conditions obtaining within the blast furnace by direct experimentation, and to correlate the behavior of the furnace at various tines with the main factors governing the operation of the blast furnace, and metallurgical losses.]
