Abstract

"It has been common practice to set blast vibration limits for structures using an “observational”approach whereby limits are set at a level based on observations of damage, or the lack ofdamage, combined with a tendency to further reduce the permitted level due to uncertainty. Suchan observational approach was used in the USBM RI 8507 to produce the frequency dependent‘Safe Levels of Blasting Vibration for Houses’ which has become a universal Standard for overthirty years."
