Abstract

Beneficiation and physical and chemical processing of non-terrestrial materials will borrow strongly from terrestrial experience but will also involve the necessity of handling literally unEarthly feedstocks, reagents and environmental conditions. The present state of scientific and engineering understanding of the processing of non-terrestrial minerals, gases and hydrocarbons is reviewed, with the production of rocket propellants, life-support fluids, structural metals and refractories as the goal.
