Abstract

The following aspects of diasporic bauxite are discussed: The importance of world reserves of diasporic bauxites; the geological, chemical and mineralogical characteristics of the Greek diasporic bauxite; the uniformity of bauxite deliveries; the significance of the absence of organics; the excellent settling properties of the red mud; the production of sandy alumina from diasporic bauxites; the advantages of applying tube digestion systems in processing diasporic bauxites; the conditions for introducing diasporic bauxite in the existing European refineries.
