Abstract

Gold occurrence in operating plant tailings ranges from gold in solution, fine free gold, gold associated with sulphides/arsenides/tellurides and gold occluded within iron oxides or arsenates and silica gangue. This paper briefly presents various alternatives to reprocess gold tailings, with examples. These include the use of centrifugal gravity separators, CIL, magnetic separation, flotation and pressure oxidation.
