Abstract

to. A strip of thin platinum foil, about one inch square, is perforated with pin-holes over its entire surface. It is then bent into the shape of a letter U, and its opposite corners are connected by short pieces of platinum wire, so as to form a sort of basket. In this is placed a piece of amalgamated zinc of convenient size, and the whole is suspended by a stout platinum or silver wire in the bottle containing the solution to be reduced.
