Abstract

Boron minerals of economic importance are primarily colemanite, tincal, and ulexite. Turkey and the United States are the leading producers of boron minerals and compounds. Other production includes datolite in Russia and synthetic colemanite in Chile. This paper will discuss various types of chemical and physical treatments of boron ores to produce the marketable minerals and compounds that are consumed in commercial products.
