Abstract

This paper deals with the complicated and often misunderstood relationship between torsional windup, load sharing and peak torques in conveyor backstops. The principals apply in low speed, intermediate speed or high speed applications. Once the controlling factors are understood, a reasonable approach to selection procedures can be achieved.
