Abstract

Education builds long term awareness, acceptance and support for responsible mineral resource development. The MABC Education Program is an award winning education partnership with British Columbia classroom teachers that has helped over 5400 teachers with resources and other learning opportunities. Each year, thousands of students begin, and continue, to learn about our modern mineral industry as a result of this teacher-written program. The CIM network has an integral role in the future of mineral education in today?s classrooms in Canada and programs of this caliber are vital to our future. The industry needs help in raising awareness of the benefits of modern mining and teachers need help in acquiring that information.
