Abstract
T-he Ojibway Salt Mine near Windsor, Ontario, produces
almost two million tonnes of97% pure rock salt annually. The
salt is mined from the middle F horizon of the Silurian Salina
Formation. The salt beds have a gentle dip into the Michigan
depositional basin. There is no evidence of deformation. The
rock salt is buff coloured and has a number of thin carbonateanhydrire
bands. Secondary salt crysrallization occurs
throughout the mine.
