Abstract

The numerical models of nonlinear piles for deep foundations are studied in this paper. The purpose of these is to clarify the mechanical behaviour of deep foundation nonlinear piles subjected to axial and lateral loadings. Based on the site data of p-y curve as well as t-z curve of foundation soils, it is possible to evaluate pile performance under above mentioned loads by means of combined FEM/FDM models. Numerical examples are presented in tall building and offshore jacket for illustrating the technique, it show high efficiency of these models. Some information to be interested by design engineers are given, especially for those who pay very concerns on the interaction behaviours of structure and its pile foundation.
