Abstract
Schalker Eisenhütte und Maschinenfabrik GmbH, Nordic Minesteel Technologies and Bombardier Transportation have developed an evaluation tool that considers the main cost drivers of the rail, truck and conveyor haulage systems on the market today. In almost every circumstance, the advantages of a haulage solution are clear. A haulage system is outlined that is fully automated, including driverless operation, and that provides increased tonnage, safety and equipment life and reduced maintenance downtime. The haulage system has been implemented by a number of companies, including Codelco, LKAB and Freeport’s Grasberg mine. CITATION:Brudek, G, Elliott, R P and Elestedt, P, 2016.
