Abstract
A review of the motivation of personnel in the open cut mining industry. The effect of social, geographic, environ- mental, organisational, union and other factors on employees' motivation as assessed from job experience and from an attitude survey. An appraisal of where we should be heading and what influence management can have on the motivation of employees.
