Abstract

Mining Impact in Water Quality: Understanding the conflict Mining is an industrial process Metal mines that chemically process ore to concentrate metals such as copper and gold use more water than non-metal mines such as coal, salt and gravel. Tailing Ponds Water contaminated with high concentrations of metals, sulphide minerals, dissolved solids, or salts can negatively affect surface water quality, aquatic ecosystems and groundwater quality.
