Abstract

If an accident occurs at a mine, the mining company, its parent and affiliates, and its supervisory employees may face substantial -- and sometimes unexpected -- liabilities and costs. This presentation surveys the likely sources for post-accident exposure, including wrongful death and personal injury claims, mine closure/operational disruptions, and government civil and criminal actions against the company and its employees.
