Abstract

A distinct hydrocarbon maturation anomaly coincides with the Gold Acres open pit, Nevada (Figure 1). Both atomic hydrogen to carbon (H-C) ratios and reflectance measurements of contained organic matter indicate significantly higher maturity in samples collected within the confines of the open pit than in samples from the surrounding region (not shown in Figure 1).
