Abstract
MARTIN MARIETTA CEMENT at Martinsburg, West Virginia, has been and presently is engaged in coupling present open pit with old underground workings. Various drilling and blasting techniques have been introduced in an endeavor to achieve optimum results. This paper will relate to three roof shots at Martinsburg, one of which realized a controlled blast of 248,000 tons of material.
