Abstract

The paper will detail the design and execution of passive and active settlement control measures, the means adopted to overcome the various physical and operational constraints, and to meet specified allowable settlement criteria. The paper will highlight the close integration between the tunnelling and geotechnical contractors, designer, and Client, and demonstrate how particular practical difficulties were overcome by both the design and the construction methods.
