Pub 554, Metals Tech , August; also Trans, vol 111. 20,500 words ) The directions for easiest magnetization of ferromagnetic single crystals are those of simple crystal- lographic forms and the extra energy needed for magnetization in other than these preferred directions depends upon the material selected for test The history of magnetic tests upon metallic single crystals, reviewed in detail, shows that crystals of one metal agree rather well as to the magnitude of such energy differences.
