Abstract
With the increased demand for mercury incident to preparations for national defense and the reduction in imports from some of the usual sources owing to war conditions, many small mines in the United States Pure now being worked that ordinarily would be unprofitable. This is indicated by the following table on mercury produced in the Unite States in 1939-40 (1)4/
