Abstract

This paper is one of a series of digests of foreign mining legislation and court decisions that is being prepared in advance of a general report relative to the right of American citizens to explore for minerals and to own and operate mines" in various foreign countries. In the preparation of this interpretation of the laws of Norway, use has been made of William R. Orrmins' translations of various acts of the Norwegian Government, which were forwarded from the American consulate at Oslo^ and transmitted to the Bureau of Mines through the courtesy of the State Department. This digest is released subject to amplification and correction, if necessary, by the proper American foreignservice officers.
