Abstract

The estimation of digging, ripping and blasting requirements in advance of mine production is a difficult task. The characteristics of the superficials and rock mass govern the type and intensity of ground preparation required as a prelude to loading. The incentives for optimum planning of preparation are primarily economic but also relate to mining method and equipment selection, productivity and environmental impact.
