Abstract
Development of cost effective technology for
whole ore roasting of refractory gold ores is an
important requirement to increase recovery rates as ore
grades become more carbonaceous and sulfidic in nature.
It is important that the industry focus on the further
development of cost effective, environmentally sound
technologies to roast this ore. Traditional
technologies have centered around bubbling and
circulating fluidized beds with and without oxygen
enrichment. Fuller Company has developed a process to
flash roast refractory ores in its pilot plant with the
R&D results, commercial scale up issues, and indicative
economics discussed herein.
