Abstract

A comprehensive finite element formulation for thermo-elastic consolidation based on a general variational principle is presented Sample one dimensional problems associated with isothermal consolidation, heat conduct ion, and thermo-elastic consolidation are presented. In addition, evaluations of thermo-elastic consolidation for an underground coal conversion field site are conducted.
