Abstract

A properly designed pre- and post-grouting program aided with coherent construction sequence and adoption of flexible design approach provide a practical combination to solve excavation problems in a hostile rock environment: intensely fractured and sheared. The Pacheco Pumping Plant demonstrates the utility of an engineered grouting program.
