Abstract

How often have you faced the adjustable speed drive dilemma: Of all the medium horsepower drive variations around, which one is most cost-effective? Regardless of the industry-from mineral processing to power generation- there is always one optimum drive which will outperform the rest. Philadelphia Gear Corp. recently asked its applications engineers to identify the most typical questions they receive regarding adjustable speed drives. Over a wide spectrum of applications-such as drives for conveyors, crushers, fans, blowers, mills, pumps, and compressors- the following 20 questions surfaced most often. The questions, and our answers, may be helpful when evaluating your next medium hp adjustable speed drive application.
