Abstract

ELECTROREFINING Canadian 1,023,691 -Removal of bismuth from slime filtrate in the Betts process refining of lead. The filtrate is subjected to electrolysis in a cell having an anode of crude lead and a cathode of refined lead under operating conditions to preferentially deposit bismuth on the cathode. The substantially bismuth-free filtrate is recycled for use in the process as the electrolyte for producing high-purity lead. S. Hirakawa and R. Oniwa, assigned to Mitsui Mining & Smelting Co., Ltd.
