(written discussion?).-From a commercial standpoint, the most important characteristic of the electric furnace is the ease with which it lends itself to intensive production. The melting of non-ferrous metals, as usually clone in crucible, open-flame, reverberatory, and similar furnaces, has certain disadvantages which are absent in the electric furnace, viz.:
