Abstract

Installation of flotation equipment is a lengthy and intricate process involving conceptual design, detailed design and layout, equipment installation, equipment commissioning and handover prior to the plant commencing operation. During these steps, mistakes are often made that lead to increased costs and/or schedule delays in bringing the new equipment online. This paper presents a series of recommendations for the installation and commissioning of flotation equipment to minimise mistakes and ensure that plant production commences efficiently with a minimum of resources. The advice herein is based on lessons learnt from recent flotation equipment commissioning. It is intended as resource material for flotation plant designers, construction contractors, metallurgists and operators, and is applicable to both new and existing plants.CITATION:Heath, J L, Murphy, B and Bourke, P, 2014.
