Abstract

Provide reasonably priced, reliable fire protection for large walking draglines. Approach Fire hazards on large draglines were analyzed, then appropriate automatic fire sensing and suppression systems developed and in-mine tested. How It Works Five fire hazard areas identified for special attention are: electrical control room, high voltage transformer enclosures, circuit breaker rooms, collector ring/roller path area, and the automatic lubrication rooms. Automatic fire sensing and suppression systems were separately designed for each area. The design of each system was tailored to the hazards and equipment protected.
