Abstract

An expert team consisting of geology, civil, and mining engineer professors was organized to investigate several problems of longwall mining in three mine sites including: site investigation, panel layout and support selection, overburden strata movement, surface subsidence and structural damages, slope, stability, well and stream dewatering, etc. The results include the development of a PC software package such as powered support selection, Surface subsidence prediction, optimum panel dimension, and pillar design.
