Abstract

There is no South African code for the design of reinforced concrete headframes, and all those erected have been designed on a uniform basis which, up to the present, has tended to be conservative. With certain exceptions designs have generally conformed with British Standard Code of Practice C.P. 114. In the design of reinforced concrete headframes the following loads are taken into account:
