DEEP SEABED MINING IN NATIONAL JURISDICTION: KEY CHALLENGES The talk focuses on the key challenges that arise from deep-seabed mineral exploration and development within areas of national jurisdiction, including legal and institutional challenge and options to address these challenges. Joshua Brien has acted for a range of Governments throughout the world, including smallisland States and the developing world. This has included engagement in matters before the International Court of Justice, the Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in contentious and advisory proceedings, including provisional measures applications and prompt release cases.
