Abstract

"Presplitting is a technique mines and quarries may use to produce high quality final pitwalls. Damage from backbreak can be minimized, thereby insuring the final pit walls standat the designed angle. Thus costly excess waste removal is avoided. Safety in the pit isenhanced. Control blasting is an essential component of procedures to maintain the stabilityof final pit walls prone to failure."
